    Tina goes to see Melvin

    “Yes of course, Bette is great!, I just wanted a word is all, if you can spare me 5 minutes?” Tina replied trying to sound professional…

    “Now why would YOU like to talk to me? – I mean if Elizabeth is fine…Well what else could you possibly want to talk to me about..Is it Katherine?

    Tina was getting agitated with this horrible man’s arrogant demeanor…

    “Look I really don’t want to discuss my personal business in the reception area Mr Porter, could we possibly go into your office? If not I can say what I want to say in front of all your staff?”

    Melvin wasn’t a stupid man…He already had an idea why this woman who should have been burnt at the stake as far as he was concerned had came here for…But it wasn’t going to happen..But equally he didn’t want to air his dirty laundry in public…

    ”Yes, of course Miss Kennard..Come in to my office and we can discuss whatever you have came here to talk about”

    “Thank you, I promise I wont keep you long” And with that Tina walked inside…

    “Please take a seat..” Melvin said gesturing to the chair across the desk from him, as he sat down on his own…

    Once Tina was seated he clasped his hands together and said

    “Now what brings you here today Miss Kennard?”

    “Well I’m sure your aware…B-Bette and I get married in a few days..And..Well…I know she would love it if you were there..She really…”

    Tina’s conversation was cut off mid sentence.

    “That’s never going to happen Miss Kennard!!”

    “Why?”

    “You know perfectly well that I cannot condone your ‘relationship’ – It’s a sin against God!…Its disgusting! – You corrupted my daughter!…If you had not warped her mind she would be happily married by now!..”

    Melvin replied with an unmissable derisory look of disgust

    “Me?!! – I corrupted Bette? Is that what you think?” Tina was internally incredulous – “Bette was gay long before I even met her!!”

    “She was going through a phase..It would have passed..It wasn’t anything serious..She only had flings..But YOU seduced her with your female wiles…You got your money grabbing clutches into her and now she’s mesmerized by you…Bewitched by you for some unknown reason!” –

    2. Wow, Alpha Tina is my Girl!!!!!!! I ohy hope Melvin will change his mind and accept them as a family and as a couple. My next thought is what in the world was in that envelope that Tina gave Melvin. I thought at first that it might be a sonogram picture but, he was reading something after she left. I only hope Tina did not make a pact with the devil (Melvin) to have him show up at the wedding. What could she have said? What has she done? Great update. Thanks for posting.

    4. “Does civil rights only extend to certain parts and classes of society as justified by your narrow-mindedness” i always wondered why they never brought that up… Melvin was a hypocrite… love this story… oooooooo… and i bet tina gave melvin a copy of the sonagram… hmmmmmmmmm…pps

    7. Great effort Tina & so right: how can Melvin be a Civil Rights lawyer and yet no support gay rights? I have wondered that abt all sorts of people over Prop 8.Great chapter. PPS.
