Her colleagues, who couldn’t help but admire her devotion to everything she was doing, didn’t ask her about anything that was going on in her private life and it satisfied Bette. The more they distracted her with their offers and suggestions, the less time she had to ponder upon her life and pity herself – a thing she hated to do.
She was spending every night at home, sometimes continuing to revise the articles, sometimes inviting Shane so that they both could smoke by the pool and remember those relatively good times when they were talking about the new male and sex with no emotional entanglements. Shane kept hinting that the aforementioned type of sex might be just the right thing for her friend now, implying that it would help her move on.
The only thing Bette allowed herself to do was to pretend she didn’t hear Shane’s words or simply understood them as a joke. Sitting there in her rather shabby and old home clothes, smoking cigarette after cigarette, thinking of the years that were spent in this house didn’t awake any interest in her to start seeing somebody again.
However, in the middle of the week, after having a particularly good day at work, Bette felt like going out for a drink. It hadn’t happened to her for a long time and before she could remember how miserable she was and change her mind, Bette quickly changed after she’d come home from work and drove to one of the bars she used to frequent in her early years, since going to The Planet wasn’t an option as she would’ve certainly run into dozens of people how would irritate her by saying how gorgeous she looked and asking if she’s ready to start dating again and begin a new life.
Bette entered the bar and not looking at anybody headed to one of the tables. She ordered a cocktail and then sat back, sipping her drink and taking one drag after another. She looked around – everything was still the same. There were two categories of people, big groups of friends, who finally found time to meet up and spend time together, and single women, who were either looking for one-night stands or for true love. The latter was the objective of those who could be identified as naïve or inexperienced. Bette belonged to neither category – she said to herself that she was there to remind herself what it was like to be surrounded by women, who kept glancing at her and counting their chances of going home with her that night. Which equaled zero, of course.

PLEASE make it a Bette and Helena romance!!! We all would love it!!! It would be sooooooooo great :-) I love the way its going now, with them fighting, make it one and I’ll love you 4ever ;-) hahaha Don’t you think it would be hot?!
I’ll have to be in the minority and say no to a Helena/Bette romance. I tried to read one but stopped after awhile. Not because it sucked as it is actually well-written, but I just couldn’t read it anymore. At any rate this is looking interesting so far.
so tina is not with the hen-boy… i think she would love to get back with bette… so whats the problem… she is exhausted… she needs help… let bette help her… loving this story…please continue
Well im just catching up with this story…its great so far but would i expect anything less from you…LOL…ofcourse not…yeah this has started out very sad and so far down the line Bette still hasnt moved on…Yet! …you`ve painted a picture of Bettes pain so clearly which in turn makes it even sadder …looking forward to seeing where your going to take us with this…Thanks

I agree with Lamentamine, please no Helena and Bette love. I can;t think of T & B not being together again. But so far, i like your story and am curious where you’re taking is.

Helena is smart enough Not to try to get to close to Bette right now. Maybe as friends,not lovers right now. So in this stoty Tina has gotten rid of Henry so be it. Thanks
Am I reading this correctly, that Tina is no longer with Henry. GREAT!!!!!!. So if she is not sleeping at night and has bags and dark circles, maybe she wants to come back to Bette but does not have the balls to talk to her about it. I do believe that Bette would take her back especially since Henry is out of the picture and there does not seem to be anyone else. Please let it happen. I always want to see B&T together. No Bette and Helena romance, PLEASE. Thanks for the post.

no to bette/helena romance either…too many of them already…tina is alone, bette is alone, they share a daughter, so i only see one logic conclusion: they belong together LOL

I am loving this story of yours! I hope you can give us some information about Tina. I want to know what’s she’s thinking and what’s happening in her life, since Helena has mentioned Tina not seeing anyone at the moment. I hope Bette will get back on track with her Alpha self, no more self pity and sadness. Maybe somewhere along the way Bette and Tina will find their way back. Thanks for sharing your talented writing, its awesome!
As far as a romance between Helena and Bette NO, but as friends and buds I can deal with that. It would be a little funny if it was Helena who was able to bridge the gap that is between Bette and Tina. Since Helena is the one person who sees Tina the most and Alice and the gang who are trying to take care of Bette, maybe these two women can find their way back home.
