    Hard To Forget

Hard to Forget – Chapter 3

Tina looked at the receiver, she was going to see Bette…, she would see her and talk to her tomorrow.

She should be annoyed at what she had said, thinking she was talking to Alice and the manner in which she had described her engagement party, but for some reason she couldn’t help the bubbles of excitement that suddenly started popping inside her.

And…, she said it. No one had called her that since college, in fact no one but Bette had ever called her by that name.

Tina recalled the exact phrase Bette used, she was sure that even though it was a short conversation, it was engrained in her mind already, ‘T…, uh…, I’m sorry…, I had this meeting…’

    "Tina?"

Hearing her name being called Tina turned to her fiancé walking towards her, his handsome rugged face, his lean and defined body, his dazzling smile…, all those features that made her melt, made her feel loved…

She shook her head suddenly, why hadn’t she noticed the way his eye twitched when he looked at her, why hadn’t she noticed the lumpy mole on the side of his neck or the hair growing more from one ear than the other…

"Are you okay babykins?" Merv asked with concern.

"Do you know I fucking hate the way you call me that!"

    "What?"

"You heard, don’t call me that stupid fucking name…" Tina said as she walked straight past her new fiancé, she suddenly felt the urgent need for two things that she usually restrained herself from.

    Alcohol and chocolate.

    ***

Bette sat out on her terrace overlooking the pooled area below her apartment. She held the cup with both hands as the warmth of the coffee seeped through the thin porcelain of her mug. She sipped the piping hot liquid, enjoying the sensation of the heat sliding slowly down her throat to her stomach.

Her mind was miles away…, further away than she felt it had been in a long time. She was usually so focused and concentrated, her mind alert to the job in hand, what was happening in the world at that moment with a constructive opinion. That was what she was about.

For some reason, or a reason so obvious that she still felt the sting from the slap in the face it gave her, her mind was so full that as much as she tried, it was flooded with thoughts and images of just one singular thing.

    1. Oh yeah this is gettin’ so good! So why all the time with no communication?… wrong #’s, addresses or just avoidence to the real issue at hand..love?? PPS:)

    2. Really enjoying this story :) Can really relate to a certain smell being associated with a specific person or moment, and bringing back memories through that. I also love the name Merv :P Looking forward to the next chapter.

    3. “She grabbed her Levis from the drawer and slipped them on. She laughed, she’d had these jeans since college, maybe the decision was subconscious that it was what she needed to wear. She matched it up with a plain white tee shirt and grabbed her black leather jacket from the hanger.” Thank you for bringing the favorite Porter outfit into this chapter….I loved it!!! This is a wonderfully, beautifully written story and I can’t wait for them to meet and connect…..you guys ROCK!!!!

    4. This story just keeps me on the edge of my seat…waiting for them to connect! Loved the Levi’s of course.. ;-) You both merge your creativity in a way which makes it very smooth to read. Very captivating, and VERY romantic. Thanks a bunch! PPS xo

    5. Obviously Tina is struggling with her love for Bette and her mixed up feelings for Merv. Let’s see what happens at this special coffee engagement.

    6. When true love leaves its deep mark, it doesn’t matter how long, how apart you can be, it always comes back to you. If both B&T have the same butterflies fluttering on their bodies, due to the anticipation of their meeting, it only means that they still care for each other. Right now, the only one who knows what happened in the past is Tina. Hope they get to talk to each other sincerely and that they are able to analize the odd circumstances in which they started to lose track of each other. It is never too late to rectify the path, when your happiness is at stake. Thanks for sharing this magnificent chapter with us. You are doing just great and we feel as nervous as our fav couple. PPS Hugs & kisses on both your cheeks.- Lucero & Marsha (Proud Salsa Aunties to the ever loving JC and Eunichick and Tias Adoradas to Patpez)

    7. How I love this story. The combination of you two writing is just wonderful. One thing I did not read nor was it suggested, After waking up from having had sex with Merv, Tina did not have a shower before dressing and going to meet Bette. Please tell me I was wrong and just didn’t realize I read where she had a shower before dressing. To go to Bette smelling like Merv is unforgivable, when all Bette will remember is that night long ago and can only smell Merv when she embraces Tina at the Planet. Phewwwwwww!!!!!!!!!I understand that this does not paint a pretty picture after a wonderful chapter and I am sorry for that. Please tell me I’m wrong. Otherwise I love the chapter and the thought of them meeting and not being able to stay away from one another. PPS

    8. You two are a great team. Smells are some of the strongest reminders of specific people or situations. Smells from childhood during family celebrations bring recollections of things past (Proust….madeleine cookies).

    9. Hell Jo and Black, Thank you both for creating a wonderful new story. I just long the slow pace as Bette and Tina begin to realize the connection between them. They have lost each other for so long and yet now it seems like mere minute they have been apart. Strong feelings can nevenr be extinguished and the flames of theor friendship have reignited. Their passion for each other has been stoked and now is now illuminating their world. Can’t wait to read more of your magical word. Please continue soon. Your Loyal Fan.
