Alice – “I guess you have other things to do now?”

Dana – “No, not really.”

Alice jumped in – “Great, erm … I mean how would you like to hang around and watch some filming, if the director does not mind? It is a group scene now so you can get to know more of the cast and crew, that is if you want to?”

Dana – “Oh wow, that would be fantastic, thanks.”

Julie smiled and followed Dana and Alice over to the set. Dana sat and watched the filming, marvelling at how great they all were, but especially Alice. Julie stood by her and whispered about what was currently going on in the script. She gently put her hand on the back of the chair Dana was sat on and leaned in.

Alice was on set and kept looking out the corner of her eye at their interaction. She even questioned Shane if she knew what was going on between them. Shane said nothing, they had just hit it off as friends straight away, and anyway Julie was still with her boyfriend as far as she was aware. Shane nudged Alice and jokingly asked if she was jealous. Alice said no, of course she wasn’t, but deep down she knew she was. She could see Dana had been given a headset so she could listen into the dialogue. Suddenly she became really nervous, she wanted to impress Dana so much. She was glad when the piece was finished.

All the girls, Alice, Shane, Bette and Tina, went over at the end and chatted to Dana about how she was finding the workings on set. Dana said how impressed she was with it all and that she was looking forward to the next season on television.

Bette and Tina said something to each other then looked at Shane and Alice and asked if they all wanted to go to the sports bar later for a drink and a chat. Dana excused herself and said she couldn’t as she had already made plans. Alice’s heart sank to the floor. She explained that earlier she had agreed to a get together with Julie.

Julie realised this was a big thing for Dana and her budding career as a reporter.

Julie – “Hey, you know what, it doesn’t matter, we can cancel. You go out with the girls and we can do this another time perhaps?”

Dana looked concerned at Julie – “No, I have arranged to go out with you and I am looking forward to it, and that’s that! I want to go out with you.”

Julie beamed at this comment and gently touched Danas` arm. Alice felt a pang of jealousy well up inside.

Dana – “That is of course, if you guys don’t mind, we could both join you?”

Julie was saddened by this as she wanted some time with Dana alone to talk. But at least she wasn’t blowing her off she guessed.

Shane – “Sounds great, yes guys?” She nudged Alice and winked, and Alice managed a forced smile. At least she would get to see Dana, even if she was going with Julie.

Alice – “Yeah, great.”

Bette – “Ok, it’s a deal. Do you guys want to meet us there for 20:00, say?

Shane – “Sure.”

Alice – “How will you get there,” looking at Dana and Julie.

Shane – “We can pick them up on the way to the bar and share a taxi, if that’s ok with you two?”

Dana looked at Julie and she nodded. – “That’s fine.”

Shane and Alice jotted down Julies` address and the name of Danas` hotel and arranged to pick them up at 19:30 and 19:45 respectively.

Dana beamed – “It’s a date!”

Alice stood looking at Dana and thought, ‘I wish’ … as did Julie!

They all left in their cars and Julie gave Dana a lift to the hotel, of course after saying goodbye to Jim!
