Chapter 49 – Whats Important
Alice was letting out the fourth or fifth sigh since arriving at the offices of the MYV Foundation. The first came by simply walking through the doors of the Foundation as just looking at the name on the wall brought back all Alices frustrations about not being able to really find anything of substance (her word for dirt) on the foundation. The second sigh came after she had given the secretary her name and was informed that Miss Heartwell would be joining her and Tina in their meeting. Great Im really sure Jackies going to be happy to see me. Alice thought to herself as she sat in the waiting area by the secretarys desk ..waiting.
Tina was the first to come out and greet Alice and bring her into the conference room. Hey Alice, thanks for coming this morning. How do you like the offices arent they nice? Tina asks.
Hey Tina, how are you this morning? Alice asks first to make sure that she had moved on from the little demonstration that Tina had put on at the Planet yesterday.
At hearing Alices question Tina just gives Alice a lopsided smile and puts her hands on her hips which demonstrates with no words needing to be said that Alice you were in the wrong and now its time for you to take your medicine and not the cherry flavored variety either.
This non verbal body language was the cause of the third sigh as Alice knew that Tina was right. So exhaling her sigh slowly Alice answered Tinas question as her signal of defeat Tina the offices are nice, actually I have been her though. I interviewed Jackie here. Alice actually bows her head a little at this confession.
Tina just looks at Alice and waves for her to come with her as she leads the way to the conference room. Alice had a feeling of Deja Vu as she felt she was back in school being led to the principles office again. Once in the room with the door closed Tina finally verbalizes what has been on her mind for the last 24 hours God Alice, what got into you? I have read your article over and over and well its just not your usual style. I mean since when is an article of yours full of barely credible facts which are mostly far-fetched questions. I dont know what melodrama you were going for but let me tell you, you succeeded in turning my life upside down in the last 24 hours. I was shocked yesterday when Jackie told me you were the author of this article. What were you thinking?

Jwet, i know I’ve said this before but i need to say it again. This story, and you as a writer keep gets better with every chapter. I hope Tina remembers to communicate with Bette when she finds out Bette is behind the foundation. Oh, and Alice is such a trouble maker but I still love her.
Wow when they are talking it almost as good as them having sex LOL. Yeah my thoughts do always go back to Tina when she finds out that Bette is the one who gave the money. But I think she will be cool with it since that is all Bette seems to have done. I mean jackie really liked tina, and grace did too so it wasn’t like Bette had to push the idea at all. Right?? well keep up the good work!!

Don’t talk about them and where they are in their lives…talk about the possibilities inherent in chocolate sauce or whipped cream once Anna’s gone to bed (or is taking a nap, or is out with the au pair, or is being babysat by someone…)

Hey Jwet. I know I haven’t been around lately but life got in the way! Sadly, it wasn’t all good…I’m no longer one of two….just one. Reading you’re story gives me hope but I fear that hope will bear no fruit. It hurts like hell but I’ve made sure that lessons were learnt. The love will possibly always be there but, right now we can’t be together. I’m glad that Bette is taking things slow and getting to not only learn the new Bette but the new Tina as well. You’re doing a wonderful job. And even though I expressed concerns about the results of Alice’s snooping, Tina’s new found confidence in herself and her relationship with Bette will help them to deal with any negative fallout (should it occur). Keep up the good work, and do have a restful weekend.

So on to this fabulous story.
Eloquent as ever, you craft such a wondrous tale. The characterizations are stunning; I can really feel Bette battling between the old and new and improved version as Tina is blossoming in to the assertive and backboned director we all know she will be.
I love the way that you have covered all bets with the simplest of expositions. I am torn between being desperate to see what happens next while wanting to savour every juicy moment.
So which of the following questions will be answered in the next installment of “From Afarâ€:
When will Alice be able to sit down after that tongue lashing? Will she pass it on to her editor? (Yes please!) Where does Miss Kit get all those pearls of wisdom from? (Do the Hawaiians know). When will the ton of brick hit Bette and Tina to make them realise they belong together? Will the ‘one-off’ develop into a motivational speakers series? Will Benjamin integrate them into TOE?
Why does buttered toast always land butter side down on a carpet?

So glad they’ve agreed to keep the lines of communication open…I’m hoping they’ll draw on that if and when Alice uncovers the truth about the initial donor to the foundation…Also I’m so counting on the incredible love that Bette and Tina have for one another to get then thru all of their obstacles…it has already, right?
