    Chapter 46 – The Brass Ring

    Bette had gotten to the heart of her fears with Shane. Verbalizing them seemed to let them breathe a little so they didnt feel as oppressive as she now sits waiting for Tina to come home. After she had voiced her re-occurring fear with Shane they had both talked about what is worse being frozen in fear and not living or risking it all and losing. Shane had voiced her view that she had never seen Bette NOT go for something that she wanted so badly before.

    With something this important why are you hesitating? Its just so unlike you. Shane says appealing to Bette sense of fight.

    Bette wont look at Shane as she is talking, she is only staring at Anna in her arms. Bette pulls Anna into a tight embrace that leaves Anna squirming in her grasp as Bette finally answers her voice taking on a low tone I guess its because I have never lost before. I now know what it feels like.

    Shane lets this hang between them as she is having a hard time reconciling that Bette would settle for less. The more she thinks about Bette being happy with less she thinks of herself and how she doesnt even settle for less she just runs. Ok Bette, I can see how settling for a little happiness is better than no happiness at all its just that you guys are so good together and well you just seem to be so controlling when you are using your head like that instead of you heart.

    With this comment Bette finally looks at Shane Maybe I dont have a whole heart to guide me anymore. I just know that if I loose anymore I may not recover next time. Bette is saying this all as she holds Anna out and is playing with her. The contrast is dramatic as the seriousness of what Bette is saying is directly opposed to the happy faces she and Anna are making.

    Well I dont know Bette, now youre sounding like me and I know for a fact you are so much stronger than I am. I run or stay pat . you well you are always upping the ante. I remember our poker nights and how you play, like you live your life, close to the vest but you always have your goal in sight.

      Yep, another fine chapter posted. Many thanks as always. Another awesome and amazing piece of writing. I adored the fact that Tina is the one making all the forward moves while Bette is standing still. At least she is not keeping her distance and running away.
      Question time today:
      Where does Shane keep her light sabre? What colour is it> (Pink?? Or black with a little blonde butt??). What aphrodisiac had Bette included in her plate for Tina? And when did Bette get so domesticated. Did she use Tupperware containers or the plastic one you always keep from doggy bags? Where did Tina get the big Ka-wo-nas to kiss Bette? Who isn’t desperate for the next post. Dare you to say.
      Well, can’t wait until tomorrow but at least will have a goofy grin on my face fot he rest of the day. Cheers.

    15. a perfect description of the reasons for the breakdown of their relationship — entitlement and complacency — allowing for hurtful words and actions — but they are wiser and the fear and wariness will actually help this from reocurring — come on, they can do it — the spontaneous kiss with perfect — Bette’s softness and Tina’s strengths were beautifully depicted — thanks
