    Loosing one’s perspective in the uphill climb

     

    “When you are born on top of a hill, it doesn’t take long to
    stand tall on the horizon.” – Ghanaian proverb

     

    We all understand the idea that an unearned advantage does
    exist in this world.  Every day people
    receive opportunities that they haven’t earned but were either lucky enough to
    be in the right place at the right time to receive OR they are the recipients
    of some favor that has little if anything to do with them.   We know that while we want to pretend that
    all men or women are created equal in reality that belief isn’t true in the
    lives we all live.  There are those who
    start with a little assistance, a leg up or an added boost that not all of us
    are prevue too.  A family with great
    connections, family money or even having the opportunity to be surrounded by
    exceptional people who graciously give guidance and direction, these are all
    forms of assistance that impact people and help provide a better life.  All of us are born somewhere on the
    hill.  Some higher than others but all of
    us working to make it to that horizon. 

     

    I have not been fortunate to have been born on the upper
    half of that hill.  But I too have made
    my climb.  I have pursued this with
    passion, willpower and the natural talents that God has given me.  I too want something better and more
    comfortable for my boy, my only family.

     

    Recently I have come in contact with the Motif Yen Valor
    Foundation.  While relatively new in its
    conception I have been impacted in a positive way in that they have provided
    mentors and guidance to the life of my child. 
    This organization has provided an opportunity for my boy to come in
    contact with people who seem sincere and honest as they go about providing
    examples of how a man should live his life. 
    I have seen this interaction and the results it has on his life and had
    hoped it would be that leg-up, that boost that he will need in his life.  The exposure to people on all levels of that
    proverbial hill has been extraordinary, contact that he may never have been
    exposed to. 

     

    Imagine my surprise when it came to my attention that this
    foundation was created in the vacuum of a back room, clouded in secrecy.  How could this be?  Why is that? 
    Is this foundation at its very core a farce?  Are they afraid of who they are or is there
    something funny going on?  If this is the
    case I want to find out soon before they do irreversible harm to my boy which
    is all I have in this world.  Is the way
    this foundation was created any reflection of how they plan on going forward
    with its power and influence.  Let’s hope
    not.  Let’s hope that they don’t loose
    their perspective as Bette Porter seems to have done as she went about setting
    up the MYV Foundation in a closet of secrets.

    1. oooh the proverbial sh*t has hit the fan. Poor Bette…something so nice turned into something so deceitful. It stinks of Helena. I wonder what their reactions are going to be when they read this. Alice is going to have to publish her story on Bette now

    5. WOW!!! Some shit how the hell did anyone find out I guess our girl Helena is in the works.. I agree I guess it is time for Alice’s story OR wil Tina take the job of straightening everyone oyut…Post soon you know I LOVE this story…

    6. oooooo…the plot thickens. WTF is wrong with Helena?!? If that’s even her writing it…hmmm Now would be a good time to print Alice’s article. Great chapter!!!

    7. OOOOh , this whole things looks and smells suppcious, I am leaning towards katie07 on this one and think maybe it is some kind of plot by Alice to get her story published. Helena has not had any hints or really shown that much of a interest in the foundation. I think that this is a Loose, Loose situation for Alice. She has to get her priorioties in order and learn to let some things go. With her background in defrauding non-profit organizations, I would think that Helena would not want to be no where near this. This will undoughtly involk the wrath on not only Bette, Tina and Janice, but Kit as well. This might cause some of Janice’s reluctant friends to come out and help expose Helena and her fraudilent dealings. Either way, right now it just plain and simply STINKS. Very clever Jwet and yes, this is why you have the awards. Please don’t keep us hanging too long.

    8. Coming out of the abyss…

      Nice! Really nice! Never saw that coming. As your other readers have said you are simply masterful. A third award is certainly not farfetched.
      This might cause a lot of angst at first, but I am sure that things will get better. At least now it’s out in the open and Bette can finally get the recognition she richly deserves for putting up the foundation.
      I have always wondered how you will pull that off because Bette has virtually killed all avenues to make her involvement in it public.

    14. Hmmm, something’s rotten in the state of Denmark…and I’m not sure it’s Helena or Alice.

      Tina told Alice to destroy all copies of ths story, right? But didn’t Alice still have it on disc? Could the story have been leaked by her editor in someway, or could it have been stolen?

      Although this smacks of something Helena would do, and she certainly has the motive, I will sit back and wait to see just where you lead us next.

      What a great way to leave us hanging…the suspense is killing me.

    15. Oh dayum Jwet just when I was getting all comfy in the happy life of B&T you slap us in the face with these evil news clippings. *taking out mop and bucket for Tina and Bette* Looks like they should have let Alice run her story. Great chapter…talk about major fore shadowing!

      After working on the addition to my house, my body is reminding me just how “young” I am so I’ve been tardy on commenting on your story…GREAT job as usual. If you need any assistance in kicking Hellno’s ars, I’ll pop a few Tylenol, take a shot or two of Gentleman Jack and bring my hammer!!!!!

    22. I’m confused – not hard to do; but are these ‘letters to the editors’ or ‘editorials’. If it’s ‘editorials’ then the newspaper has done a very poor job of “research” and has not been “impartial”.

      If it’s ‘letters to the editors’, then it has the stench of Helena Peaboby! I’m sure it’s made up and submitted by the same person.

      Phew…..these letters got me all riled up! Can’t wait till Helena gets “hers”!
