    Freedom Fest Ch. 2

    Previously –

Dana blamed herself.  She knew her friends tried, but she just didn’t feel like talking.  She figured they finally grew tired of leaving messages that were rarely returned.  She didn’t mean to push them away she just didn’t know what else to do.  Now she sat alone outside of The Planet wondering why she decided to come to LA for the weekend.

“I take it you received my invitation.”  A voice said quietly beside Dana.

    Chapter 2 –

Dana nearly jumped off the bench when she heard the voice.  She was so lost in thought she didn’t notice anyone sit down beside her.  Still holding her chest to keep her heart from jumping out, Dana turned toward the voice.  “Shane!”  Shane was sitting next to Dana with a comfortable distance between them.  Her legs were stretched out and she had her hands in her pockets.  Dana was becoming nervous.  She was happy to see her old friend, but wasn’t sure Shane was happy to see her.  She thought about wrapping Shane into a hug and resisted the urge, unsure of what her friend’s presence meant.  Hell she wasn’t sure if Shane even still considered them friends.  Dana gave Shane a puzzled look.

Shane decided to break the silence, still not making eye contact with Dana.  She continued looking across the street at The Planet.  “I wondered whether or not you would show up.  When the hotel confirmed your reservation and said you were checking in today, I figured you would come here.”

Dana’s confusion was evident.  “You sent the invitation?”

“Yeah.”  Shane said simply and Dana waited for an explanation.  “I knew you moved, but I didn’t have your new address.  So I took my chances and mailed it to your parent’s house.”

Dana nodded her head in understanding.  When she and Howie moved into the condo she posted on the internet that she moved, but nothing else.  No forwarding address, no city, no reason, nothing.  To most it was as if she was trying to disappear and didn’t want to be found.  Though she missed her friends at times, it was something she felt she needed to do.  She just needed to disappear.  “But I don’t get it Shane.  Why the invitation?  Why the party?”

    1. My gosh…. Don’t tell me- Al was getting married or something? Dana needs Alice! Now I’m dying to know what had happened btw Al and Dane. Honestly, I thought Alice was the one who sent the invitation. Ya broke my prediction! ;)

    2. God,you’re evil. Just kidding. But I really, really need to know what happened between Dana and Al, but I’m a little worried about your Author’s Notes too. Love the story and can’t wait to see where you’re going with it. PPVVS!!!

    3. holds a spork and points it at you** Why the cliffy. BUt hey What can I say I do it too… Anyway. I freaking love this story. It’s so good.

    4. Hey, cougar, great update! This is getting very intriguing. It’s very telling that Dana did not even feel comfortable enough to hug Shane. Also that Shane did not tell anyone that Dana had made the hotel reservation. I’m really curious as to what made Dana run. Your Author’s Notes have me a bit concerned. However, you are a very good writer and I will probably stick with the story for that reason even if it takes a “different” route. Thanks for the new chapter!

    5. Alice is always in the middle of everything, good or bad. Dana didnt even hug Shane, nor has she gotten in touch with anyone for two yrs. Keep on posting
