First Year-Chapter 3
Chapter 3
I am the only child of my parents Trevor and Peggy Peabody. My parent’s marriage was more of a merger of two prominent business families than a marriage for love. My father, a wealthy British aristocrat, had a reputation of being a womanizer and had no interested in managing the family business. My mother, on the other hand, was a successful, ruthless, American business woman who saw a great business opportunity through the merger, I mean marriage. I wondered if she had any real emotional ties to my father. She had no qualms managing the Peabody Empire, while my father was free to chase skirts. Most of the wealth we enjoyed was because of mother. But the Peabody name carried with it a bit of aristocratic value and allure. I think my mother did not want another child after me. I was the heir and there would be no spare.
As far back as I can remember, I rebelled against every rule and expectations placed on me. I was kicked out of one elite private school the other because of my non-conforming behavior. Tutors did not stand a chance with me insulting them with my precocious mouth and foul language. Finally out of frustration, my parents, when I was about 10, packed me up and sent me to a prestigious British boarding school. You know, the type that educated future kings and queens. Once there, I thought if I pulled my usual tricks I would be kicked out and sent home but instead, they clamped down tighter controls and limitations on me. I thought I was being sent to school, but it turned out I was sent to prison. As my rights and privileges got more and more limited, I gave into the powers that be and played the role of stellar student.
My parents divorced a year after I was sent away to boarding school. I remember being devastated by the divorce. That didn’t compare to the devastation I felt when two years later I got the news that my father died in a car crash racing through the mountains near Monaco. Any loneliness I felt in boarding school was compounded by the death of my dad and hero. He did come to my school to see me at the beginning of that year. He told me never to marry for money and reminded me that money can’t buy real happiness. He advise me to follow my heart and in anything I do, whether work or personal, I should do it because I love it. I didn’t think much of it at the time but it was the last bit of advice he gave me, so it stuck with me more than any other.

Hi, I just wanted to be first since I had to wait all weekend, did you forget about my Sat. a.m. post? Thanks Oma
Oma are you saying you want me to wait until next Sat for the next post. I can arrange that.
I know that long distance relateeionships are hard,You need to trust completely. Is Dylan unsure of herself and her drinking she will need help. Surely she want throw all her hard work away. thanks
How come Dylan always seems a bit messy? I think she is just a regular Ms. Understood. If she is shakeing Helena off maybe she has other plans, it is cold in Cleveland so maybe she needs someone to keep her warm. I guess my days got a little blury there sorry bout that, you could fix it by making me think everyday is Saturday. Thank you, Oma
Oh, the well-endowed former virgin is so going to make this love affair messy! A dry drunk with a history of abuse – poor Dylan. She has risen above her family of origin only to be scared and afraid to truly recognize her strength. Self-sabotage is one dangerous trait to possess – particular when it comes through a bottle. I think I missed a posting so I’m going to go back and read again!
Hey Squirl thanks for the link to this story. I’ve been a silent reader for awhile but I believe that has changed. I really like this story, the background on the characters is very impressive & helps the story flow a lot. Can’t wait to see what’s next. Always a pleasure to read your work. PPVS!
UH? Metro? I can’t offer Dylan a whole lot of advice about the drinking or her background. All I can say is, as lanky as she is, she better get some fucking good outerwear for winters in Cleveland. I know she’s too damn smart to have been amongst the chowder heads that had to be rescued yesterday. Yeah, ice fishing when the temperature is 50-60F. Good idea. Pass me a beer.
NO,NO, NO, NOT AT ALL, please don’t misunderstand, and sorry but I fell asleep and didn’t finish reading, but will finish when I get home. But your story slep w/me all night. hehehe. Oma
liking this…and im glad through perspnal experiences and not inspired through another t.v show.it has a different twist on things this way.
Okay, I am officially worried… we are starting out with Dylena, but it sounds like we are going to have a bit of turmoil. Is Carmen going to tempt Helena? Will Dylan fall off the wagon and jeopardize everything that is important to her? oh the drama!
