    Fire and Ice Chapter 36

    April 1999

Bette’s Saab careened through the streets of West Hollywood with caution.

Although her mild alcohol buzz had given way to adreneline, she still obeyed the traffic rules despite her normal nature to challenge them.  One road side visit with one of LA’s finest was enough for one day…

The brunette smiled as she recalled the encounter with the officer…Tina’s body panting gently at her side, both women coming to terms with their interruption.  Bette’s own body began to feel the heat as her mind recollected the connection she had shared with the blonde in the very car she now controlled.

She smoothed her hand on the empty seat, her heart longing to find Tina there.

Bette steadied herself, determination returning to her features.  She looked at the clock on the dash…3:25 a.m.  She had made excellent time.  Bette had managed to race home, pack her belongings and be half-way to her destination in less than an hour.  Although she was determined, her exhaustion was slowly threatening to over take her formidable mind.

She cursed herself vehemently for self-parking at LAX, her normally elegant stride tripped up with the sheer distance she had to travel with her cumbersome luggage strapped to her side.

Her heart raced as she neared the terminal, a familiar figure resting against the ticket counter.

    Tina….

The words flooded from Bette’s mind to her mouth, a smile spreading wide across her lips as she spoke.  "I’m so glad you’re here, T…" Bette dropped her bag to draw the blonde in for a warm embrace.

The blonde shuddered a little both at the term of endearment and the close contact. Her body instantly relaxed as she breathed in the brunette’s scent.

"I can’t believe I’m doing this…" The blonde shook her head slowly, her eyes full of wonder.  The whirlwind of this situation was only gaining momentum, and she was at its mercy completely.

"Believe it…" Bette winked, squeezing the blonde’s hand lightly.  "I’m so glad you said yes, T…." The brunette inched in and whispered for the blonde’s ears only, causing a shiver to spiral up Tina’s spine.

Bette released Tina gently, turning her attention to the ticket representative.  "I believe that you have a ticket here for me…Bette Porter?" The brunette began, wiping the hair free from her brow.

"Yes, Ms. Porter, I’ve got it right here…" The young man responded, glancing up from his computer screen.

"I need to add another one.  Same flight." Bette stated firmly but politely.  She looked quickly to Tina, who was digging for her credit card.

"No.  I asked you to come. Put that away…" Bette waved her hand, suggesting she was not taking any form of payment from Tina.

"Bette.  No way…." Tina pleaded, knowing this would be the case.  Still, she couldn’t possibly allow the brunette to pay for something like this…could she?

Bette shook her head, her gaze tender but intense.  "No."

Tina knew she was blushing, she could feel her cheeks spike in temperature.

"Excuse me, Ms. Porter…the flight looks to be almost at capacity…  Yeah, it’s completely booked….overbooked actually…" The gentlemen interrupted the passionate stare that began to transpire between the two women before him.

He raised his head and shook his head apologetically.  The women’s faces dropped.

"I’m sorry.  The flight is full."

    3. What???????? You brought her there to say that the flight is overbooked, and I have a very good question, WHY is this chapter too short? You better go back to your computer and start writing the next one, and fix this, “sigh” my frustration level juts rose up, Hun why are you still reading my comment, GO back to the computer NOW, Hurry up please. Thanks

    4. Vome on there is some in first class. Everyone knows that they have extra tickets for god only know why they keep extra ones. Maybe for VIPs Dont they know that Tina is more than a Vip? thanks

    5. I read this at 4:00 am but forgot to comment. Please there must be a seat in first class or maybe another airline, or the next flight but they must go together. They should not fly separately and I don’t Bette would even entertain that idea anyway. Suspense, great chapter. PPS

    6. no, you didn’t miss a chapter…i skipped some stuff that will be explained later…this is the chapter directly following Bette’s unanwered invitation to New York.

    7. That is just not right! I hope that they get a different flight or Tina makes it on this one somehow. Tina has to go to NY with Bette.
