    Fire and Ice Chapter 17

    April 1999

"Eric!" Tina tugged her hand free once Eric had led her through the crowd, unconciously bumping her into random people.  Her tone was bordering on combative.

Eric looked at Tina with bewilderment.  "What?" he appealed, popping his shoulders forward.

Tina hastily ran her hands through her hair.

"You…I was having a conversation…you interrupted me…and then you just dragged me away like some piece of luggage…" Tina was finding it hard to hide how pissed off she was becoming.  She ferverently disliked Eric’s display of dominance over her…especially in front of Bette.

Eric gave out a startled laugh.  "Tina, I’m sorry…I didn’t realize you were actually having a conversation…I thought you were just saying hello…" Eric shook his head, confused by Tina’s sudden aggression.

Eric tried to retrieve Tina’s hand.

Tina balked but tried to cover for her actions by joining Eric at his side.

She really couldn’t believe how out of sync her and Eric had become…or had they ever really been in tune with each other at all?

"It’s…fine."  Tina conceded, once again brushing her bangs back.  "Let’s just go get a drink."

Tina motioned with her head for Eric to once again lead the way, this time without connecting hands.

Tina had needed to end the conversation before her temper flared out of control in public.  She didn’t want to overreact to being hauled away from Bette…surely Eric would become suspicious if she continued her rant.

She also knew that she could sure use a stiff drink right about now.  The heat encircling her body felt visable, like steam pouring off a body following a hot shower.  Anger for Eric mixed with desire for Bette was a deadly emotional cocktail, and Tina knew she had to quench it before it consumed her.

"Double vodka…on the rocks…and with a twist." Tina declared to the young bartender.  She rested her elbows on the bar top and her head falling into her palm.

She saw Eric turn to face her through her peripheral.  She didn’t have to look at him straight on to know that his eyebrows were pinned in surprise.

If Eric did know one thing about Tina, it was that she wasn’t a heavy drinker.  A glass of wine once in awhile at most, and usually with dinner.

    1. Poor Eric is toast. Tina needs to tell him just what Bailey said, “he is meant to be someone’s mate, just not hers. And she is very sorry.” ‘nuf said. PPS

    2. Another home run Fire! Now they’re going to move from just stares across a room to perhaps actually talking with one another. I can hardly wait for your next update!

    3. Ok maybe Eric isn’t a complete bad guy and Tina is being a bit deceitful. However, dragging Tina through the room without asking her if she would like to go get a drink was completely disrespectful. I look forward to what happens next.

    4. love the way you “set the scene”….i feel like a happy little fly on the wall ;) i think i’ll buzz on over to hmmm, let’s say bette’s office??? – can’t wait to see what’s next, PPS

    5. i feel sorry for eric… and tina does need to tell him its over… maybe another woman walking by will catch his attention and she will catch his… and sparks may fly… PPS

    6. Bette and Tina searching for one another…I thinking some heavy kissing might occur! and please Tina just tell Eric the truth so you can lose him and his man handling ways! PPS

    7. I have to say this is one of the best TiBette beginnings I’ve read in a while. You have me checking my computer way too often for updates!! Thank you!
