Chapter 6. Fear, fearful, fearless
It was not exactly the perfect time for a nap, but a nap they took. Bette had not been able to have a good night sleep since a week ago. The stress, the work, the worry, and all the otherness were wearing her down. She had dreading shadows under her beautiful eyes.
Everything was obvious to Tina. She could see the woman was trying to be tough for her. In fact, Bette had been incredibly tough, strong, impenetrable even, but that was just on the outside. On the inside, she was only human, who was just insecure and scared like anyone else would be in this situation. As she held the brunette, stroking her arm lightly to lure her into a deeper slumber, she saw a beautiful but terrified and tired out child. It was a new perspective, for Tina to contemplate. Bette was someone’s child. It wouldn’t be easy, harsh to be exact, to grow up as a criminal’s daughter. She knew very little about Bette’s childhood and her family, even the scarce information she had, was all about the woman’s father. People talked about how vicious and evil the man was, and they never cared about her feeling. And they treated her like she should pay for what he did.
Little Bette grew up in a world where people despised her, avoided her like a plague, constantly told that she was a lost lamb. Tina looked at the sleeping woman with guilt and sorrow. Even she herself, was no better. When the brunette needed her to be on her side, she hesitated, she did the wrong thing.
And now, what Bette did, abusing drugs, dealing them, was exactly her father was doing and she should be punished for it. But what about the people surrounding her as she grew up? They contributed, if not gave her the direct instruction. They put an invisible gun to her head and a drug filled syringe in her hand. They did this to her. She did this to her.
It shredded her heart to see how damaged Bette had become. She wanted to fix it, she did. She wanted to tell the whole truth to the woman, and persuade her to walk away. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry Bette.”

It’s been a long day worrying about our dear sweet Pie. She just messaged me, so she’s out of the woods and recovering. Wish her a very speedy recovery and come back to us soon.
I want to dedicate this chapter to Pie, although it is a little…violent, well, maybe next chapter then!
Also SO to the lovely ladies reading and commenting, and being so supportive and kind this entire day. Now we can all settle down and take a nice long breath haaaaaaaaa….
And for the covering pic, yeah, I always envision Jason Stantham as the gentlemanly villain of my story.
I hope you all like how I took care of Henry/Eric. He deserved what he got. So… one less thing to worry about.
Of course I left you with a teaser, coz I’m a terrible tease. And the playfulness returned to me as I knew my friend was ok.
