Chapter 2

“Wake up!” Shane shouted in Tina’s ear. It might have been a cruel way to wake her sister up, but Shane knew it was effective. Tina opened her eyes immediately and mumbled something about five more minutes before turning around. Shane didn’t give up that easily and she threw Tina’s sheet the the end of the bed.

“Today is a special day, my beloved sister. Today is the day that I, Shane McCutcheon, am going to meet the hottest girl I have ever seen in my life! And you, Tina Kennard, as my sister, have to be there. Just to so we can analyze later if she wants me in her bed or not.”

“What time is it?” Tina groaned. She didn’t share Shane’s enthusiasm on meeting new people. Right now, all she wanted was to be alone. No, she didn’t want to be alone – she wanted to be held by Pete. A tear came in her eye as she she thought of him. She knew she had to forget him, but right now, she just couldn’t.

“Hey – did you hear me? Tee? What’s wrong?” Shane asked, looking very concerned.

“Nothing,” Tina said in a strained voice, wiping the tear away. She turned her head to the short-haired brunette. “What time did you say it was?”

“10 AM, lazy. I think you’ve never slept this long, I mean, how much do you have normally?”

“I get through the day without problems if I have six hours.”

“See, and now you slept like what – 11?”

“Yesterday was tiring, the whole moving.” Tina lay her head back in her pillow. “God, I so don’t want to do this. We finally got all the boxes in and now we have to start unpacking them and put everything away. And don’t you think mom and dad will do anything.”

“Well, it’s not like they really have the time for it either.”

“Dad has too much work, and now is the time he has to prove himself, so I get it. But mom, really, what does she do?”

“Well, if you want to risk asking her…”

“I’d rather die and go to hell.”

“If you asked her, the same thing would happen.”
