Even in the Quietest Moments, Chapter 33 I think
Chapter 33
Tina was on edge all day knowing that this evening she would be meeting with Bette to talk. She took a risk deliberately provoking Bette about her new relationship. If looks could kill and Bette had an opportunity to respond she would have been skewered and roasted for her “handle your business comment”. Tina later worried how exactly Bette would “handle her business”, handling being the operative word.
Tina went all out preparing the meal for the evening. Pan fried trout, string beans and garlic mashed potatoes. She selected a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc to accompany the meal. Just as she had finished cooking and set the dials to low to keep the meal warm the doorbell rang.
She opened the door to her Porter women, Bette and Angelica were laughing and giggling respectively as she stood there taking them in.
“Hey.” She locked eyes with Bette, and then took Angelica from her. “Hello my Angel girl.” Angelica flashed the Porter smile that never failed to melt Tina’s heart. “Come on in.” She walked into the house and Bette hesitantly followed. Oddly this was the first time Bette had been to her apartment. In all the turmoil surrounding their separation and her time with Henry Angus and later Hazel had become the go betweens. She watched as Bette looked around.
“Nice space.” Bette commented.
Tina noticed that Bette seemed to be avoiding eye contact with her. That she decided needed to change in a hurry. She had hoped for an angry Bette. An angry Bette was a passionate Bette. Bette seemed distracted and that was not good. Please don’t let it be too late for us.
“Thanks. Would you mind opening the wine and pouring us a glass before dinner? I’ll just take Angie and clean her up before dinner.”
“No problem.” Bette was eager to occupy herself. Once in the kitchen she became lost. The refrigerator she located right away. Opening the door she looked for the wine on the inside rack that she was used to only to find it was not there. Baby food jars, juices, and other food stuffs, arranged similarly to her own but not the same, a silent testament to the time apart. She finally located the wine, a few bottles; all the labels were Sauvignon Blanc by the same maker so she figured she couldn’t go wrong with which bottle to open. She was still searching for the corkscrew when Tina and Angelica came into the kitchen.
Tina immediately located the corkscrew and handed it to Bette. “I forgot to take this down.” She apologized.
It’s the simple things sometimes that say the most, Bette realized in a moment of clarity. She was more lost around the Tina that stood before her than she was with Rosanna who she had only known a few short weeks. How sad was that. Bette once tooled quickly opened and poured the wine.
Dinner was superb. Bette was consistently amazed at Tina’s culinary skills. Angelica was likewise impressed and made very happy noises as she was fed her dinner. Conversation between them started out slow then shifted into an easy rhythm. By the time the meal ended they were looking into one another’s’ eyes more frequently both wondering about the thoughts and intentions of the other.

well im glad things are fix,but very sadden this story is almost over but i enjoyed the ride babe.and maybe start something new when you have the time.p.p.s.
What if I pretend the two women belong to two different stories? Then I don’t have to decide!
Moooorrrre.
“…both wondering about the thoughts and intentions of the other.” Count me too, I’m wondering also! ;-)
How do you expect your readers to make up their minds when Bette can’t make up hers? I still like Ro!
I’m still for Ro! Tina making googly eyes at Bette isn’t gonna snap everything back into place. But I do agree that an angry Bette is a passionate Bette 8) But should Tina be craving Bette a la anger management mode right now? LMAO, that tickles me for some reason. Again, Ro is still leading the race. PPS!
Im still Tibette and always will be Love your writing so will go with your flow. thanks
man, you’re leaning towards rosanna… haven’t tibetters suffered enough? lol
Ok, I am also a true Tibetter. Please allow Bette to choose Tina.
Go Tina go go!!!T&B rule….
Tina needs to take her woman back. Bette needs to see that. Please!
Kelika, Aw the sense of foreboding is intense. Tina is trying valiently to rekindel her relationship with Bette as Bette is coming to terms witht he beginnning of her romantic, love affair with Rosanna. I do feel that some hearts will be damaged in the future. You have brillantly capture the difficulty and awkwardness that Bette experiences around Tina. Bette needs to be open and honest with Tina and put her straight on the importance Rosanna now has in Bette’s future. Tina and Bette need to forge ahead and redefine their positions as Angelica cc-parents and put to rest their intimate partnership. A little tear has run from my eye at the loss of B&T but am hearten by Bette’s new love. Please continue soon. Your Loyal Fan.
I think this story is great. But having said that, I’m finding it awfully painful to read – my Tibette heart is so broken at the moment. Maybe I’ll just wait until the final chapter, read the final paragraph, find out who Bette chooses, before I read any more.
I am on probie’s side: I still like Ro, so much more mature than this Tina. Sorry, love Tibette but less and less. Go Ro claim your woman.
I have enjoyed this story so much and I´m sorry the end has come, but it´s inevitable I guess – still hoping for a happy end with Ro since I´m not really a Tina fan.
i’m really sad that bette chose rosanna, though Ro seems to be really really nice…i hope tina won’t be too devistated and hurt, and be gentle with us tibetters as well, since you gonna break out hearts
Tibetter forever. Still hope you will let Bette pick Tina, please let B&T have a family they always wanted. Ok please post soon, thanks!
So little Tina time…just like the series. Fellow true TiBetters, I am afraid our hearts are about to be broken.
Go Ro Go. Come on Bette… there are no mind games with Ro….travel that road.
