Bette dropped Tina
home that night after their walk on English Bay. She unlocked her apartment door and took off her shoes. She walked
straight to her couch, throwing her purse and her jacket on the couch, picked
up the remote control to turn the TV on then walked towards the fridge to get
her daily fix of juice. She sat herself on the couch flipping channels and
looking for something to help her unwind from the night’s event. She stopped on
Showcase channel and found that the CSI re-run is playing, which happens to be
a nightly pit stop to help her unwind.

Halfway through the
show, she heard the front door unlocking and sounded like her roommate Dana
coming in. From the sounds of the footsteps, Tina suspects that she went
straight to the kitchen, and unloaded her groceries.

“Hey… how was your
day?” Dana asked Tina as she saw Tina sitting on the couch doing her nightly
ritual.

“It was okay. What
about yours?”

“It was okay. I had a
late practice today. There’s a competition coming up next month. So, my days
are going to be pretty much like this.” Dana said as she’s sitting on the on the
dining table across the couch peering over the TV but just glad to be sitting
down while sipping her Gatorade.

“How do you know that
a woman is hitting on you?” Tina asked Dana out of the blue, trying to make
sense of what is going on with her and Bette.

“Well, did she mention
she had a girlfriend in the past? Does she stare at you? Or gaze at you? Does
she do gestures that Paco would do to you or for you? Why? You have someone
having a crush on you?” Dana nonchalantly asked.

“Maybe” Tina
tentatively answered.

Dana became intrigued with
Tina’s question and smiled. As far as she knows, Tina is straight and in a
relationship with Paco. She had met Paco last summer break, he stayed over for
a few nights with Tina. He’s a 5’8” good looking Italian guy, who also
happened to be live in Las Cruces. He went to the same high school as Tina; only in the last year of high
school close to graduation did they meet. And they have been together ever
since. Her parents moved back to Vancouver a year before she finished high school. After
high school, Paco went to New York pursuing his art interests. Having no reasons to stay, Tina decided to
return to Vancouver after Paco decided to pursue his art schooling
in New York. She missed the beaches and the mountains and
having the big city conveniences yet still having the small town atmosphere.
