    Darkside ch 10

    Darkside 10

“Bette why did she call out Avery’s name?” Shane asked.

“I don’t. Go find Avery. Quick.” Bette ordered. Shane ran out the room, down the hall and up the stairs. Avery’s door was of course locked. She ran her hand over the door and key fell to the floor. She unlocked the door and opened it. She looked around Avery wasn’t there.

“AVERY!” Shane called. No answer. Shane looked in the bathroom. “Avery this isn’t funny stop playing games. I know that you’re in the house.” Shane said. Then she heard  something falling out on the balcony.

Avery laid face down on the floor. She looked like she had been beaten over and over. Much worse than Tina.

“ALICE!” Shane yelled as she ran to Avery’s side. Alice, Helena and Lil ran into the room.

“What happened to her?” Alice knelt down. Shane was holding Avery.

“I don’t know Tina mumbled Avery’s name. Bette sent me up here to find her. She was like this when I found her.” Shane was almost hysterical. She had always been Avery’s protector.

Lil walked slowly over to them. She bent over and touched her lifeless daughter.

    “She’s alive.” She said.

“Just barely, but yes.” Alice said.

    “Go get Bette.” Lil said.

“No need I’m here.” Bette stood in the doorway. Just behind Tasha held up a frail weak Tina.

“What happened?” Tina asked. Lil looked back at her tears running down her face.

    “Mom?” Avery mumbled.

“I’m here baby. What happened?” Lil asked.

“My arm. I think it’s broken.” She said.

“Don’t worry. Aunt Alice is going to fix everything.” Lil said.

Alice put her hands out over Avery’s body. Avery’s body began to glow. Her hair went from straight to wavy in a matter of seconds. Her already toned muscles popped even more.

“What are you doing?” Bette asked.

“That’s not me.” Alice’s voice was a little shaky.

“Then who?” Bette looked at everyone.

    “It’s Avery.” Tina said.

The mark on Avery’s arm started to grow out like a vine climbing a tree. It snaked it’s way up her arm and disappeared under her tank top and out the other side and half way down her upper arm, before stopping.

Everyone watched, afraid, and confused by what was happening.

“What’s happening to her?” Shane asked.

“Nothing well, nothing new. All of you knew that this was a possibility.”  Tina said. She was quickly gaining her strength and then some. Her mark had expanded as well.

“How would you know that?” Tasha asked.

“Because I am your fifth.” Tina now stood on her own. “And she is our center.”

    “Our what?” Shane asked.

    “The prophecy.” Bette whispered.
