Dancing Lesbians and Animal Crackers in my Soup (part 4 of 6)
INT – THE PLANET – DAY
ALICE and SHANE eat lunch at the Planet. Alice agonizes over an article idea while Shane downs a cup of coffee and thumbs through an issue of LA weekly.
ALICE
Ok, which article would you rather read: lesbian wrestler’s who crochet or, what I think is really ground breaking, lesbian dwarfs, up and out of the closet?
Shane shoots Alice a look of humorless disbelief.
ALICE (cont.)
What? Well, ya know, I’m trying.
SHANE
Keep trying.
ALICE
My editor’s gonna’ like eat me if I don’t find an idea by tomorrow.
Runner enters the Planet. She’s sharply dressed in a dark business suit; she’s stylish, bathed, and looking hot.
SHANE
(Reading aloud from her magazine.)
“…the Arthur Hall Dance Studio is officially closing after more than 40-years of teaching ballroom dance to the gay and lesbian community.”
ALICE
Yes. That’s it. That’s my next article. Lesbian ballroom dancing – end of an era.
Shane looks up and sees Runner walking towards them. She elbows Alice.
ALICE
Ouch. Hottie alert. I am sooo adding her to the Piezckei dating spree list.
SHANE
Speaking of, how’s that meet/greet/and fuck thing going?
ALICE
The meet and greet is great. The fucking…
SHANE
Not so great? It’s not you Al. You’re a one woman kind of chick.
ALICE
Yeah. Tell that to all my exes who – either die on me or would rather blow up in Iraq than be with me.
Shane takes a closer look at the woman coming towards them and realizes the “hottie” is Runner.
SHANE
(In disbelief.)
It’s Runner?
ALICE
Ok. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
Runner approaches the table.
SHANE
Hey Runner. You look great. Have a seat.
RUNNER
(Pointing at Shane.)
Shane. And…Alice?
Alice watches Runner closely.
ALICE
You look surprisingly hot. Where’s your stinky dead twin?
SHANE
(To Alice.)
Play nice.
Runner sits down and takes out a brown sack lunch.
RUNNER
(Chuckling.)
You tossed her out with my running shoes the other night, remember?
