It was Monday and Bette was sitting in her office staring at the computer, daydreaming. The last week had been a blur of a combination of two things… work and sex. She was used to the routine of working a long day and heading home after stopping by a restaurant for take out with the occasional evening out with friends. If someone had asked her three weeks ago what her life would like now, she would have never guessed she would be sleeping with Tina again. But now she was. Very often and very passionately. Bette thought about when her and Tina first met close to ten years ago. They were young and lively, uncertain of why was ahead of them. They clung to each other and hesitations for anything more.
But now… Bette realized they were older and have been through their share of trials. They’ve been up and down in a relationship, with an end that was devastating. Apart, they lived without one another, lost in their own worlds. Bette looked out the window and grinned. She felt young again and she liked it.
“Getting a lot of work done?”
Bette quickly turned around to see Alice in the doorway. “Hi Al.”
“I thought I’d swing by to see if we’re still on for tonight.”
“Absolutely.” Bette looked at her watch and saw that if was already after three. She had met Tina for “lunch” and ever since she hadn’t been able to concentrate on her work. She wouldn’t be meeting her again until Friday because their schedules didn’t line up for a few days.
“Good, I wouldn’t want you to bail on me.” Alice sat down across from Bette’s desk.
Bette rolled her eyes. “I promise.”
“What are you working on? You seemed lost in thought when I walked in. Good thoughts, I might add, judging from that grin on your face.”
Bette waved a hand in the air. “Oh, nothing. Just have a lot on my mind.”
“Like what?” Alice pressed.
“Nothing.” Bette rested her head in her hand. “You know… can you hang out now?”
“Now?” Alice looked at Bette like she had just asked her to jump off a cliff.
“Yes, now. I’m not going to get any work done this afternoon. I’d rather just save it for tomorrow and tackle it when I have a full day ahead of me.”

Alice so needs a muzzle!!! This would bother me alot, that she doesn’t think anyone is entitled to anything private in their lives…why do they put up with it?
OMG susannah makes a very good point. As much as I’d love to have an Alice as a best friend, I could NOT put up with the nosiness. I have a short fuse and I’d snap and bite her head off. Seriously, as long as a friend isn’t showing signs of being a junkie or suicidal, then back off.
Fareast, I do love this story and your writing. I have now officially read every chapter of every story that you have posted. Thank You for sharing. I will definately continue following your writings.
Friends are friends but sometime Alice is a bit nosey for me. There’s a difference in poking fun and being nosey. I do love this story though…bring on friday.
exactly, lament. Actually Alice goes beyond nosiness..asking and continuing to pry is being nosy..but saying she will find out anyway is a little like emotional terrorism. I have always seen Alice do this and I think it is because she has no real life of her own, she lives through others, but it sure would not be something I could put up with at all.
Happy for the girls. Why don’t they just admit they love each other and get back together. First, though, Tina needs to leave Hen-dick and get her own place until they decide to live together again. Alice needs to just be quiet, she does not need to know everything, especially about B&T. Post soon please.
The secretive nature of their meetings and quasi-relationship is what makes this story so delicious and naughty. But Bette better cool her jets when Al or Kit are around. Women do have a sixth sense when things are awry or not quite right or balanced. But this story is so much fun and imaginative.
LOL…Its only a matter of time!!!!..before someone figures this out….but for now i like the secrecy…and if Bettes glowing…so much the better!…
This is sooo sooo good! Leave it to Alice to snoop and figure it out. But you know since Dana is alive and everyone always pegs her to be constantly confused, I think it would be great if she figured it out! that waould be fun! Keep em’ coming!
Alice is nosey, but it all comes from a place of love so its alright :). Sounds like Bette has gotten her feelings involved in their little sexcapades. I hope Tina has too and they don’t end up damaging each other further. Thanks for spoiling us fareast :).

Kit, Shane and now Alice all know that something is up with Bette. They are suspicious of Bette and are moving in to finding out exactly who the mystery woman is. Although I believe that Kit already knows that the mystery woman is Tina.
