    Alice makes it over another hurdle in her recovery.

    The next day, Dana had a simple security system installed at Alice’s apartment.  Jackie seemed to be out of their lives, but, she felt Alice might feel safer having something to warn of intruders. 

    Alice spent some time during the day dusting and airing out the apartment.  She also went to the grocery store and restocked the fridge.  At least the apartment was starting to look lived-in again.

    Dana stayed at Alice’s that night.  She showed up with a pizza and some DVDs and basically never left.  The girls fell asleep on the sofa and then Dana roused Alice enough for them to move to the bed and hold each other during the night.

    The following night, Shane showed up as a “surprise” — one that was planned by Shane and Dana.  Dana wanted Alice to realize that she could stand on her own and thought it might be a good interim step to have Shane stay with her rather than Dana.  Alice slept soundly in her bed while Shane stayed passed out on the couch.

    Alice felt good to make it through the night without Dana.  She wanted Dana.  She wanted her more than anything.  But she was concerned about becoming dependant on her and smothering that fucking mouse again.  Jackie was gone and the dynamics had changed again.  Alice wasn’t sure what the right amount of interaction with Dana was.

    The next night Alice spent alone.  It was one of the toughest things she had ever done.

    She got into bed at 11 after exhausting herself with work.  Her eyes and body were absolutely worn out from sitting hunched over the laptop for several hours.  Dana had called earlier to wish her goodnight and to also drop hints that she would be around all night if Alice needed anything.  Alice passed out for about two hours and then woke up in a panic.  She used one of the relaxation exercises she learned from her therapist to calm back down.  Once she was relaxed she went through the apartment to confirm to herself that she was the only one there.  She tried to go back to sleep and she just couldn’t do it and she didn’t want to resort to taking any sleeping pills.  She ended up staying up all night sitting on the sofa, staring at the phone and willing herself not to call Dana.

    5. It will be awhile before Alice can stand on her own.At least she has friends to fall back on. Alarm systens was a good ideal,now she needs to used it at all times. thanks

    7. nice chapter..as usual very great lol shes getting back on her feet im so happy for her..i hope she doesn’t just let dana back in as more tho..not yet newho!! shes done so much but i feel shes got some work to do on the romantic side of there relationship.

    13. Awwwww. Alice getting a kiss when she’s asleep and then getting carried off to bed. Can anybody else she Dana as Alice’s dyke in shining armor? Thank you so very much.
