Chapter III – Empire State of Mind – Love in the Hamptons
Just then, Bette lifted her head slightly, removing her retro-Jacky O style wrap-around dark glasses, to glance at the view behind the men. An hour earlier, the late afternoon sun had shone particularly brightly where she’d been sitting, so she’d continued to wear the wide brimmed honey-colored straw hat with a moss green band she’d worn around the grounds all afternoon.
Earlier, the men had walked past the table where the women had gathered, heading towards the broad landing of the stairwell. The tip up of that wide brimmed hat had been the only sign that she’d acknowledged them as they filed past.
Logan recalled taking a moment to glance at her bare arm, skin turned golden, even slightly bronzed from being under the sun today, stretched out against the pale linen tablecloth. At the end of it her long, graceful fingers were playing with a flute half-filled with chilled rose’. Diane had been in the middle of a story about the two guys who had been trying to chat her up earlier, “… and, I kid you not, they just would not stop hinting at doing a foursome with Jules and me…eeeaauww!”
Bette had been in the middle of a throaty laugh as they’d walked past the table, and she’d looked up at them from beneath the brim of her hat with those large brown eyes that he once thought he could get lost in, seemingly trapping him and the two others with a beguiling, naughty expression. When she gave them all a slow wink, he happened to glance at Tom. Logan saw that their new friend, too, seemed to have stopped breathing.
He chuckled, remembering he’d once felt the same loss of breath whenever Bette had winked at him. Poor Tom. It’s going to take him a while to get over that distinct rush of ”butterflies in the stomach” feeling Bette engendered.
As the men continued to rest against the wooden railing, Brom’s phone rang. He straightened up to thumb the glass.
“Marissa?” he glanced over at Logan, who nodded his head, as if to acknowledge that he’d been expecting Marissa to call. Tell her to come over if she wants to. We’ll all still be here.
“She said Lauren McCall is staying over at her place and she’s asking if she can take Lauren with her here?” Brom asked Logan, covering the mouthpiece of the phone as he did so. Logan nodded, “yeah, of course. Probably wants to talk to Bette about those artists Lauren’s signed up.”

Geez, what to say, i am totally addicted to your story.
And like everyone in your story, i also have a secret crush at Bette.
B&T, they are the most amazing couple, their connection is inbreakable and they are so strong, they can and will handle everything that will cross their pad.
Thanks for the update.
Bette leaving everyone starstruck is totally believable. Tina recounting their first time was wonderful. I hope we will get Bette’s POV of her first time with Tina so that it will ease Tina’s insecurities. I am nervous about Bette traveling again.
What a lovely update. Love these two.
Strange start but interesting. Yes keep Bette and Tina safe ……..You are keeping us in suspense :)
Love it! Tina talking about her first time with Bette was hot! I know Tina is scared but she should trust Bette not to so anything stupid. Life needs to go on. Taking Diane and Jules may not be a good thing. I love that B&T are trying for another baby.
Ahhh!, I love to see the girls living the finer side of life after so much drama and hurt. All the men and women came to attention as Bette sashayed across the veranda dressed like she had just stepped out of Vogue magazine. I could see the younger women hanging on Tina’s every word as she spoke about their first time together. This is just a marvelous tale. Please keep Bette safe while she departs on this mission. She has to remember that she was not with Tina for the birth of Angelica. She does not want that to happen again. Thanks for the dual updates and enjoy the warms days of summer.
Tina loved the narration about his first time with bette

Lovely rememberances from Tina’s POV. I, too, would love to hear Bette’s recounting. Your writing is so fluid and alive – just brilliant!! Thank you.
