Left alone Alice wasn’t sure whether she should knock on the Kais door or remain in her place. It was getting dark, her stomach growled in anger, and she was in desperate need of a warm bath and shelter. Walking up the long path towards her door she reaches the door step raising her hand she brings herself to knock on the door but before she does she pauses. Fear prevented her from knocking on the door not knowing what else to do she slowly removes herself walking back down the path from her home to the main road. Once she reached the fork she looks to her left seeing another gate and a community of smaller homes. As she walked the path she could feel the cold glares upon her. Out of her peripheral she could see families emerging from their homes to witness the stranger among them. Walking with her head down she took small glances at their faces only to receive confused stares in return. Small children stopped their play to stare at the mysterious blonde as she passed by. Looking at the adults it didn’t take her long to realize like the Kai they were all warriors. They stood tall, stone faced, and through silence exhibited pure strength and fear. Although no one psychically approached her she knew her presence was not welcomed. The sun had disappeared and in its place the moon shined brightly illuminating the sky. Once she reached the gate she noticed a medium sized tent in the middle of the road she approaches hoping to find answers to her questions. As she stood before the tent she noticed there was a younger woman tending to a row of books on the shelve and an older woman sitting in a chair with her back turned away from her.

“Forgive interruption, “her voice catching the attention of the younger woman, “Do you have shelter available for the evening?” The older woman hearing her choose to ignore her focusing her attention on the book she was reading. After a few moments without an answer Alice speaks again.

“Apologies, I do not mean to disturb you I was wondering———.”

“You have coin, “The older woman says rudely never removing her eyes from the book.
