Chapter 5 – You’ve Got to be Fucking Kidding Me [Repost]

Bette was not so amused as her eyes narrowed and her anger reached a new level.

“Oh, so this is funny to you? Hmm, I don’t remember contracting you to be funny, Nick. I certainly hope I’m not paying you to be funny, because you see, Nick I am failing…horribly…miserably failing to see the humor in the situation right now. Let us not forget, the countless customers I have sent your way believing your company and your product to be of a worthy caliber. Please tell me that I have not led very important business contacts astray in referring them to you only to discover that this type of unprofessional oversight is typical of DigiPrint’s less than impressive quality of work as a whole?”

The fiery brunette’s shrewd business persona was in overdrive and earned a speechless response from the object of her tirade.

“Should I consider your silence to be your affirmation, Nick?” Max felt bad for the guy at this point. Bette had verbally wiped the floor with his ass.

She heard him clear his throat on the other end of the phone. “Umm, no, Bette. I, uh, I’ll have those corrections completed immediately. Again, please accept my sincerest apologies for the careless oversight. We certainly appreciate all the business you have sent to us in the past. I’ll be happy to throw in an extra 500 copies of the perfected product, at no charge to you, of course.”

    Bette smiled triumphantly.

“I appreciate that gesture, Nick. Now, as I was saying, I am certainly glad that these proofs have not yet gone to print, since there is one more additional modification that will need to be addressed.”

    “Whatever you need, Bette.”

    Alphaville Records

Tina headed down the long bright hallway towards the main conference room. Aaron Kornbluth, the general manager of the label, had called a last minute staff meeting to discuss some promotional logistics for Third Wheel Crush.

“Hey you!” Dana Fairbanks called out as the determined A&R whizzed by her opened office door.

Tina paused and pivoted on the ball of her foot to step back into view. Dana was Alphaville’s Public Relations Administrator. She issued all the press statements on behalf of the label and supervised the publicists assigned to each artist.
