You could have knocked MK over with a feather as she stared at the woman.  She was a Latin beauty with a short Haley Berry style blonde hair cut.  She was short and slender with curves in all the right places.  She wore a tan business suit with an obvious expensive cut.  She looked at Bette in the sheet and walked past her into the apartment.

Woman:  “I see you’ve found another one.”

She said this with an amused yet annoyed look on her face.

MK still couldn’t muster up enough guts to say a word.  The woman walked around the living room a bit and admired the art.

    Woman:  “These pieces are breathtaking.”

    MK now able to speak.

MK:  “Thanks Bette picked them out.”

The woman didn’t even look at Bette.

    Woman:  “Well isn’t thatcute.”

MK:  “What are you doing here Jennifer.”

Jennifer:  “You sound as if you’re not happy to see me darling.”

MK:  “How’d you guess?  How did you find me?”

Jennifer:  “Well I think we both know that wouldn’t be too difficult for me to do.”

    MK knew she was right.

MK and Jennifer stood face to face looking at each other.  Bette was becoming uncomfortable.  She cared very much for MK, but still wasn’t sure she cared enough to get into it with Jennifer.  But from the looks of it MK needed to be rescued because she was about to be in a battle.

Bette:  after closing the door.  “HiI’m Bette.”

    This snapped MK’s attention back.

MK:  “I’m sorry B.  Yes Jennifer this is my good friend, Bette Porter.”

Bette extended her hand for Jennifer to shake.  Jennifer snobbishly refused.  This sent Bette into shark mode.

Bette:  “Jennifer, must be the Ex-girlfriend.”

Jennifer turned around and faced Bette.

Jennifer:  “Girlfriend?  Why sweetie, I’m Mekayla’s wife.”

Bette felt like someone hit her with a truck.  In her head she thought “HER WHAT?!” But she didn’t allow herself to say that.  Mekayla’s eyes widened.

MK:  “You are not my wife…”  to Bette “she’s not my wife.”

Jennifer:  “Well until I sign those divorce papers, the state of Massachusetts sees me as Mrs. Jennifer Fitzpatrick.  And I have no intention of signing them.”
