CHAPTER FIFTY-FOUR

Bette pulled Tina a little closer to her and gave her a light kiss on her front. Tina snuggled up to her girlfriend and kissed her back. They had zoned out of everything before they even realised it. They didn’t see any of their guests rolling their eyes or heard them sigh because this was the millionth time this had happened that night.

“You know, if you had told me three years ago that Kennard and Porter would be an item, I would have bet for every cent I have that it wasn’t true. It’s so… weird to see the two of you together,” Alice said. Despite the fact that she and Bette hadn’t been the best of friends in high school, Alice and Dana were still invited to their Christmas party. Bette had found a good friend in Dana, even more so since they left high school. Alice was really only there because she was Dana’s partner. The fact that her and Dana were an item now was equally surprising to Bette. The brunette just couldn’t get her head around the fact that soft and quiet Dana had fallen for the sometimes downright rude and always-busy Alice. But as she had seen when they were together, they really complemented each other. Alice seemed to have calmed down a little bit, probably because she could get everything out of her system with her job as a journalist for LA Magazine. 

“Well, Alice, you can’t deny they make the most amazing couple,” Shane answered. Shane was alone, as always. Even if she had found a date for tonight, she didn’t want to spend the first Christmas she had with Bette again with a girl she barely knew by her side. She wanted it to be a thing for friends. She didn’t want a stranger over at Bette and Tina’s. 

Alex was there as well, together with her new boyfriend Jack. He really was a nicer guy than Nathan ever had been and also more respectful towards Alex. As their love was still kind of new, they were also crazy about each other. Alexandra had to keep herself from crawling on his lap and making out, despite the crowd they’d have.

Of course, Sam and Dave were there. On Christmas Eve, Dave had proposed to Sam, but their marriage wasn’t due anytime soon. It was more that they both felt that their relationship had gone far beyong being boyfriend and girlfriend, but the step to marriage was a huge one as well. So, they decided they wanted to be engaged, even if it was for a very long time. Sam was very happy to wear a beautiful ring she showed off at every opportunity she got.
