“Okay, let’s head out. Here are her things and thank you again for helping me out on such a short notice here, Shane.” Tina said sincerely.
Shane just looked at her. “No problem, Tina. That’s what friends are for. And when you’re finished you can come over, ok ? I’ll be at Bette’s.”
“Sure. See you later then.” Tina one arm hugged her awkwardly and they parted ways outside the complex.
* * *
A few minutes later April arrived back with a tray laden with coffee and other goodies.
Bette still had Helena in her arms but the kissing had ceased for the time being. They were standing outside by the pool and watched Blue. The cat was chasing a butterfly again and both of his humans smiled at his antics.
“It sure looks like he has some fun, don’t you think ?” April asked while setting the tray on the table.
“You can say that again, Doc. By the way, what are you still doing here ?” Bette grinned and Helena’s elbow landed on her ribs. She gave her lover a hard glance.
“Hey, what was that all about ?” Bette asked her girlfriend.
“Maybe for meddling in things you shouldn’t ?” Dr. Sullivan answered for Helena.
“Shouldn’t ? Shane is not here and you’re not a servant as far as I am concerned. So it seemed like a legitimate question for me to ask.” Bette explained.
“If you say so, Darling.” Helena’s hand caressed Bette’s side and she mouthed “Sorry !” to her.
“You’re right, Bette. I am not a servant nor am I trying to be one. And since I have a job I really love, I just wanted to wait for you and see how Blue is doing. Looks like he is fine, but if you have no problem with it, I’d like to take a closer look and a quick exam.”
“Of course I have no problem with it, April. You’re his vet, so be my… our guest. And I apologize if I came over wrong. Must be the whole excitement finally catching up.” Now Bette smiled sheepishly.
“Yeah, okay, as if I believe that. You just wanted details… and you know it !” Sullivan smiled broadly at her.
“Pffft… all this distrust is really hurtful, you two !” Bette made a face and then the three of them laughed. “Okay, okay, I give. I wanted and still want details ! Now give !”
Three adults had taken a seat while the conversation was ongoing and Blue decided it would be a good idea to look after them. They were laughing and he knew what the happy sounds from humans meant. So he wandered over to them, sat down before April and just looked at her with his deep blue eyes.
April suddenly had the feeling those eyes looked right into her soul.
This morning she had had a fleeting feeling that there could be a deep thing going on with her and Shane and the look she got from this little cat reminded her of that.
Oh my… I am falling in love with Shane !
Well, took you long enough to get it ! Her Inner Voice mocked her.
Huh ? What is that supposed to mean ?
I guess it started the first time you looked at her yesterday, but I could be wrong. Her IV was sure about it, but wouldn’t prodd any further.
Love ? Oh boy…

Welcome back Kijuma and it’s good to see you have not lost your touch. Excellent post by the way. It’s good to see Bette&Helena are still communicating both verbally as well as physically. And the interaction between Alice,Jenny&Marina are quite good. As for April she’s a likable character. The girl has spunk and I like that. I’m hoping Tina is not, But if she is I’m quite sure the gang will stand by her. That’s what friends do, something she seem to have forgotten. But let’s let by gones be by gones. So your babies are Pisces. Good sign,being one myself you should never get bored.
Hello kijuma,I must say that you have totally immersed me into the world of Bette and Helena, these are two of my favorite characters and to see them together, so masterfully played out by your incredible writing is amazing.It is not often that I sit down and read 28 chapters of such and engaging story in one day, and it is next to impossible after reading that much that I can’t contain myself and desperately need to see where a story is heading. You are brilliant… all your character interaction is brilliant, you ability to showcase all of their emotions is poetic. You my friend are gifted beyond gifted to be able to bring such great characters together in such a way to make a reader feel like they actually know these people, actually love these people and to care about what is going to happen in their lives.I hope you keep this going for a long time coming and even if you happen to conclude this story I hope you will Bring Bette and Helena tales to life for a long while.Sincerely,JC

BBQ…an appetite, I’m always having an appetite huh. Well sorry I knew you posted yesterday afternoon and I intented to read your chapter in the evening…but I forgot all about it *blush* so I’ve read is first thing in the morning, does that count too…Well I can only say, I enjoyed reading it, I can so feel Helena’s pain caused by insecurity, that is just the way you feel when you’re deeply in love and start thinking of loosing that. You crave reassurance all the time. Also loved the way you described what happened at the bank, great writing and great writing too when both Shane and April realised that they are falling for each other. I sure hope Tina isn’t pregnant, I smell troubles in that case…she and Henry are over, aren’t they?. Blue…everytime I read about him I falling deeper and deeper for him….he will grow a aristocat….euhm aristocrat sorry. Don’t let us wait that long anymore for the next chapter ok!
Good chapter. Hope you not make Tina’s life living hell, let get her not pregnant but find someone that good for her and leave Bette alone or being good friend to her and be happy, and please let her dump that stupid hendick, can’t stand him. Anyway love B&H and let see more please, thanks!
