Can’t Help Falling In Love – Chapter Four

    FROM: TEE

    Hey,

I want to talk to you. Can we meet in Green? It’s important. Does 3PM work for you?

    T.

Bette swallowed when she read the message. Had Tina noticed she was… in love with her? God, now it sounded so real.

    TO: TEE

    Hi,

Yeah, it works for me. I’ll be there.

    ———–

Bette walked into Green. As you would suspect from the name, everything was green inside, all different shades but all green. She saw Tina sitting in the corner, looking nervous. Bette couldn’t help but admire the blonde-haired woman’s beauty. She snapped out of her stare when Tina smiled and waved. Bette waved back and walked over. She bended down and gave Tina a soft kiss on the cheek. That was her favorite part about meeting Tina; she could give her a kiss on the cheek.

“Hi, Tee. How are you?” Bette asked, putting her purse on the floor and sitting down.

    “Good, you?” Tina asked.

“Fine. Why did you want to talk to me?” Bette wanted to know.

Tina sighed. “I think I need a drink first.” She said and let out a nervous giggle. She motioned for a waiter. She asked for a vodka tonic. Bette just went with a coffee.

“That sounds serious.” Bette said, swallowing a lump in her throat.

“It is…” Tina said; they got their drinks and Tina drank 1/3 of the drink in once. “Now, I’m ready.” She said. Bette couldn’t help but smile.

“Okay, tell me what’s wrong.” Bette said, nervous because of what might be the problem.

“I broke up with Carl…” Tina said.

“Oh, that’s to bad.” Bette said, trying to be a good friend. Tina held her hand up.

“Let me talk, Porter.” She said. Bette immediately shut up but smiled. “I broke up with him because I have feelings for someone else… strong feelings. I don’t know if that person will ever have feelings for me because the person is married and has kids. Oh, gosh, this isn’t working. I guess just saying it is the easiest in this case.” Tina said and took another ‘sip’ from her drink. She took a deep breath, preparing herself for the possibility to loose Bette as a friend. “I… I have feelings… for you, Bette.” Bette gasped but let Tina speak. “I can’t get you out of my head. I have these crazy… jitters in my stomach whenever I look at you or whenever you look at me. I understand if you cannot do this… you are married, you have kids… I have nothing to give you. Only myself.” Tina finally took a breath and looked up into Bette eyes. She could only see understanding.
