Back at Bette’s house

Bette was busily preparing the food while Tina was on the table browsing the Internet when an IM popped up.

Jlerner329: hey! How are you?

“Uhm, babe. An IM from Jlerner329 came up.” Tina said.

Bette tensed up a bit before replying. “You can just close it. I can’t IM right now. I am being put to work by my girlfriend.”

Another message came up before Tina can do anything.

Jlerner329: you there? I just wanted to tell you that I am going back to the US. I got a job in LA. I’ll see you around!

**Jlerner329 signs off**

“She signed off.” Tina told Bette.

“Oh, ok.”

“That was before she said that she’s going back to the US and got a job here in LA.”

And then there was silence.

Chapter 19

Tina got up and hugged Bette from behind. “Are you ok?”

“Sorry Tee. I don’t know what to say but I am ok.”

“Should I be worried?” Tina gently asked kissing Bette’s shoulder.

Bette turned around and cupped Tina’s face. Looking straight at Tina’s eyes Bette said “No. You have nothing to worry about.” Bette lightly kissed Tina on the lips and continued “I know where I belong and I have searched so hard for it.”

“I trust you and I love you, Bette. You know that, right?”

“I do and I feel the same way about you. I love you, Tee, so much.” Bette professed.

“Good.” Tina said with a twinkle in her eyes. “Now that we have that settled can you please go back to preparing our food? I’m hungry. This is too much drama for a starving girl.”

Bette laughed “Thank you for kicking the elephant out of the room, Tee.”

“Always a pleasure babe!” Tina winked at Bette which made Bette laugh harder. Tina can’t wink even if her life depended on it but she was so damn cute when trying.

Tina just finished packing her things and was about to go back to her apartment. Bette on the other hand was being a baby and was trying to make Tina stay.

“Do you really have to go tonight?” Bette said with puppy dog eyes.

“Babe, don’t make this harder as it already is. You know I don’t want to go but I have to. I can’t afford to be late for work.”

Bette sniffed.

“Babe…”

Sniff.

“Stop sniffing. It’s not even real.” Tina said.

Bette couldn’t help but laugh despite herself. “It’s just that I’ll miss you so much. I sleep better when you’re with me.”

Tina sat beside Bette. “Porter, what will I do with you?” Tina said affectionately. “Tell you what, why don’t you stay the night with me? You can either go to work from my place or pass by here in the morning before going there?”

Bette’s smile seemed to take over her entire face. “You mean that?”

“Yes. Now get packing so we can get moving.”

Bette kissed Tina on the lips. “I love you!” She then got up and started gathering her things for her sleepover.

Bette followed Tina’s car to her house. They took two cars since they would be heading different directions in the morning. Tina did several chores and Bette helped her out despite Tina’s protests. They have done their night time rituals and are now in bed facing each other.

“We need to get you a bigger bed.” Bette stated.

“Why is that? I sleep alone most of the time.” Tina said with a smile.

Bette pouted. “That’s why we need to get you a bigger bed. We can’t have that happening.”

“Really now? I don’t recall inviting you to stay here other than today.” Tina coyly said.

“You are mean.” Bette sniffed.

“And you are such a dramatic.” Tina laughed. “I kinda like it this way. The smaller the bed is, the closer you are to me.”

“Ooooh! I like that idea. Maybe I should get a smaller bed!”

“Don’t you dare! It’s nice to have room sometimes.”

“Does that mean you’ll be staying over my place more often?” Bette’s smile was wide.

“Is your name Miss Assuming? I meant more space for you.”

“You really are mean!” Bette turned her back to Tina and crossed her arms.

Tina chuckled. “Awh. My baby is mad. Come here.” Tina hugged Bette from behind and kissed her shoulder. “I love you, Bette.” Tina sincerely said.

Bette smiled. “I love you too, Tee.”

And the lovers drifted off to sleep.
