    Bette’s Dilemma-The Confrontation Pt 1

As Bette drove away from the sitter’s house she realized that the deep feeling of peace and contentment that she had felt through the morning had seemed to vanish into thin air. It had been replaced by an edgy sense of foreboding that manifest itself in a string of profanity (that would have made incurred her mother’s angry reprove) at the other drivers of the vehicles that crowded the city streets. Glancing at her watch, the hands indicating 1:35 pm Bette took a deep breath and concentrated on the fact that by the time she arrived Tina would be waiting for her. Just get there Porter, this will be over soon. If she was honest with herself the anxiety she felt was due in part to the tiny suggestion of fear that had lodged itself somewhere in the recesses of her mind that Tina would get tied up at the studio and wouldn’t be able to meet her for the confrontation with Jodi. Another side glance at her cell phone that sat on the passenger seat of her car confirmed that Tina had not called. Tina will be there. You know she will–you’re just letting your insecurity get the best of you she chide herself.

Her internal dialogue had at least distracted her from the anger and frustration that she had felt driving Bette thought as she slid her car into the parking lot and scanned the sea of pavement dotted with vehicles for Tina’s car. The sinking feeling that she had been able to fend off earlier returned with a vengeance as she failed to find what she sought.
