Bette turns aroun, “What?”

Helena walks towards them , “Bette, Bette, Bette, don’t you get it? I never wanted to you….not really. I just wanted to make your life as miserable as you made mine all those years ago. I’ve never forgotten your name. Ever since Cate confessed who you were, I knew I’d have my day to get you back for what you did to me.”

Tina stands there anticipating Bette’s response. Bette thinks back and remembers, “Oh my God!…..you were her girlfriend from college. I swear I didn’t even know you existed. In all honesty, you and I weren’t the only two people she was seeing. That’s part of the reason I broke it off with her. She didn’t tell me about you until after that night you saw us together. About a month later she blew me off for a date with someone else. I ended it partly because I didn’t want to be caught in that mess. She seriously got around. I know it’s hard for you to accept, but really I did you a favor….she would’ve screwed you in the end anyway. It could’ve been worse if you’d stayed together.”

Helena feels utterly stupid, like she’s been slapped for a third time. She doesn’t know what to say.

Bette: “Helena, you have major issues and if I were you I would, seriously, consider psychiatric help. Oh and please remember to keep your distance. Good evening.”

Bette hugs Tina closely and they walk hand in hand out to Bette’s little blue Saab. On the way home, Tina is a little curious about Cate, since Bette never mentioned her before.

Tina: “Bette… how come you never told me about Cate?”

Bette: “I guess because I didn’t consider my relaiothsip with her substantial. I told you that I had dated several women and truthfully, that’s all she was…just someone I dated.”

Tina: “Well, Helena told me ,tonight, about her first girlfriend, Cate, and how cate had left her for an older woman, but I never thought it could be you.”

Bette: “Small world, huh?”

Tina: “Yeah, but I’m still curious…because that would’ve put you and her dating around the same time I met you. I know this because I’m assuming the “gallery” Helena saw you two at was yours, am I correct?”

Bette: “Yes you are correct.”

Tina: “Well, you said when you met me that you hadn’t had that space for very long.”

Bette: “A couple of months…I guess.”

Tina: “So that confirms that the timeline is accurate enough for you to have been dating us both.” Tina’s temperature begins to rise, ” Were you ***** us both at the same time? I broke up with Eric to be with you and you were still seeing her.”

Bette: “T….baby, relax and let me explain. Remember earlier I told Helena that Cate blew me off one night for a date with someone else?”

Tina: “Yeah”

Bette: “Well, I remember that night because that’s the night I met you. As you know I was having a dinner party at the gallery. I really wanted her to be there for it, but when I met you I knew I was feeling something strong for you and I was glad she didn’t show. The next day you came to get the ear ring you lost and we kissed. After that I told her I didn’t want to see her anymore. That’s the other part of the reason I broke up with her. You stole my heart with that kiss.” Bette smiled and held Tina’s hand.

Tina: “Aww…..I love you. I never knew you wanted me so bad. I’m sorry I doubted you.”

Bette suddenly feeling hot, “I love you too. But you still don’t know half the story of how bad I wanted you….” She gazes deeply into Tina’s eyes “…..STILL want you.”

After hearing the lust in Bette’s words, a small pearl of wetness begins to seep from Tina’s core. Bette can sense this from the barely audible moan that escapes Tina’s lips. Bette softly whispers to soothe Tina’s want, “Don’t worry, baby. We’re almost home.”
