Kit: that’s the reason why he would never allow Maxine to take Bette… my mother took Melvin to the cleaners… she got every thing and any thing she could get… Melvin has stepped on a few toes out there and lawyers were coming up to my mother asking to represent her for free…
Linda: what did he say to Bette when she wasn’t there any more…
Kit: well that next morning I was sent home early… I found out later why… so I really don’t know what line of shit he laid on Bette… but Bette told me Daddy said mommy didn’t love us any more… she found another daddy and kids to love… I tried to tell her that wasn’t the truth… but Bette was and will always be a daddy’s girl… so what ever that man said or did was gospel is Bette’s eyes… and when I did turn 16 later that year… I was so disgusted with him… and the way he brain washed Bette… well I stopped going… it was when Bette was graduating high school and going to Yale that I came back into her life… with out Melvin’s knowledge that is…
Alice: Hey… a little help over here…
Linda and Kit both look over and see Alice turning green…
Linda: looks like Tessa gave her a little present…
Kit: Alice… go and change her
Alice: are you nuts… I no nothing about changing babies…

Meanwhile…
Tina was feeling horrible all morning… and Jill knew something was wrong…
Jill: So Tee… you want to talk about what’s eating you…
Tina: Sorry … I just said something this morning I wish I didn’t…
Jill: it happens…
Tina: see that’s what I love about you… you know something is bothering me and you don’t pressure me to talk…
Jill: because I know you will talk when you are ready… and you know I am here for you no matter what…
Tina: I made a comment to Bette along the lines of I wish I knew what cute things you did as a baby… you know my mom is always saying Tessa does the same things I did… and some times Bette turns it all around and makes it sound sexy… and that’s when I said I wish I had some stories about you… and she said “Me Too”… and then walked out of the room to get her brief case… I wanted to crawl under the rug…

This was a great chapter Amanda. I always felt sorry for Bette and if I could have beaten Melvin for what he did to Bette and her mother, I would have. I hate men that abuse women and children, now I’ve started hating him all over again. I hope Tina’s mom can find her, and if she does, I hope Bette can accept her. It wasn’t her fault that she left and that old bastard always threatened her if she tried to see Bette. Hope you let them reunite in your story. Great chapter. Thanks for posting.
