    Beginnings- chapter 6

With her eyes still closed, Tina reached her hand out in search of Bette, but felt nothing but cold sheets on the other side of the bed.

“Baby?” she said out loud, only response coming from the ticking of the clock next to her.

“What time is it?” she muttered as she finally opened her eyes, turning her head to look at the clock.

“*****, she’s gone” she said as she remembered Bette’s early meeting that she had scheduled for this morning.

Reaching for the phone, she quickly dialed the number to the gallery hoping to catch her before she went into it.

“The Bette Porter Gallery, Sharon speaking.”

    “Hey, it’s Tina.”

“Hey yourself.  How are you on this fine early morning?”

“Good, afraid that I may have missed my girlfriend.”

“Well, that fear would be correct because you did miss her.  She is already behind closed doors with the Tomlinsons.”

“*****, I was really hoping to catch her.  What’s the rest of her day look like?”

“I don’t think that you really want me to answer that, do you?”

    “Uhhh” groaned Tina.  “That bad?”

“That bad” she confirmed.  “I actually have her double booked twice today which she is totally thrilled with as you can imagine.”

“Yeah, I actually can imagine her pleasure at that” chuckled Tina.  “What time is her last appointment?”

“Oh, let me take a look here” said Sharon as she pulled up Bette’s schedule on her computer.

“Looks like her last meeting is scheduled to start at 7pm.  It’s with a couple that flew in from Chicago to work with her on some private acquisitions.”

“Okay” said Tina as she took a deep breath to calm the rising irritation that she was feeling from Bette’s hectic schedule.

“Well, if you see her, can you at least have her call me?”

“Of course I will.  I mean, she’s gonna have to pee at some point, right?” giggled Sharon.

“With Bette, who knows” sighed Tina.

“I’ll tell her to call you.”

“Thanks, and please have her at least eat something during the day” pleaded Tina.

“I’ll do what I can” smiled Sharon.
