    Backstory ~ Chapter 13c

The next morning, Tina was facing the counter as she filled the coffee maker with freshly ground beans, an indulgence she felt she deserved since her upcoming work day was likely to be horrendous.

The blonde smiled as she sensed Bette enter the room, happy that the brunette had gotten up so early to join her. When she did not hear Bette approach or even speak, she frowned and turned around.

Tina was surprised that Bette wasn’t there and she craned her neck, expecting to see the brunette nearby.  Instead, she saw her nephew.

    “Good morning, sweetie.”

    “Good morning, Aunt Pinky.”

“Did you see your aunt this morning?”

The boy wolf knew she meant his human aunt and shook his head “no.”

Tina nodded and turned to remove a mug from the cabinet.

“Aunt Pinky’s Beloved read us a story.”

Tina continued her morning kitchen rituals as she spoke to Trouble.  “Did you have a good time?”

The boy wolf nodded, even though his aunt couldn’t see him. “I like story time.”

“I like story time, too.  I’m sorry I missed it.”

Trouble moved closer so that he could watch the complex kitchen movements as Tina removed mugs, glasses and plates from the cabinets. and forks, knives and spoons from a drawer.

Tina smiled again as she waited for Bette’s arms to encircle her waist.  She soon frowned when it didn’t happen.  “Trouble, are you certain that you didn’t see your aunt?”

He shook his head and a confused Tina returned to her morning preparations.

    “Aunt Pinky?”

    “Yes, little one.”

    “The story was good.”

    “Good.”

    “I liked the story.”

    “I know.”

“It was about how we should keep trying even if something seems too hard to do.”

    “That’s true.”

“Aunt Pinky’s Beloved told me that about hunting.  That if I keep trying, I’ll get better and better.  All I have to do is think I can.  I’m gonna be like the engine: ‘I think I can, I think I can, I think I can…””

    “You will.”

“I’ll never be a good a hunter as she is.  Even Uncle Red says she’s a good hunter.”

    1. This was such a hilarious chapter. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when Red was talking to Tina. Was so cute the brotherly love. Have I told you that I love this story…. I do! I do! Thank you :)

    2. Ha! Red! What a hoot! Damn decent of him, though. I’ve always had a soft spot for him. And Blaze must be peace loving, like the patriarch, but in all the times I’ve called someone an asshole, it was never an endearment nor did I expect a loving response. I guess we all can learn from different cultures.

    3. Oh, and I might be a little slow, but it took a three-segment reread before I realized that Tina “sensing” Bette behind her was a consequence of the soap thing… I can’t wait till she figures it out. :D Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    4. Oh Spumoni another humorous home run! I think Bette has a soft spot for Trouble and that coversation Tina had with Red made me chuckle. Thanks for giving us this story that makes one feel good no matter what’s happening in their day!

    5. All I can say is please keep weiting about these wonderful wolves. This funny and I love these stories so much. What are they going to do for Thanksgiving?? Love this story thanks so much/

    6. Hi, dear sweet Spumoni! *waving* We loved this wolfies’update. It was hilarious and our bellies ached, due to the load of laughter you provoked with this amazing installment. It was a good exercise, though. Hehehe Thanks for bringing us this story. You left a HUGE smile on our faces. PPS Hugs & kisses on both your cheeks.- Lucero & Marsha (Proud Salsa Aunties to the loving JC, Eunichick, ZLFAN, T_Daze, Melrose231 and Tias Adoradas to Patpez) P.S. Have we mentioned that our fav wolfie is Trouble? Hehehe He is SO cute, indeed. Now we know why Bette is so taken aback by his natural charm. xoxo

    7. hahahaha! Yeah, Tina, stop cheating on Bette with a wolf, darn it! That was awesome. “Big brother to little sister talk” “We’re littermates!” LOL. Why must you make me laugh so?
