Ch. 2 – The Look In Your Eyes

Neither woman could tell how much time had passed as they looked into each other’s eyes. It was as if the rest of the world had simply faded away and they were the only two in existence. The only sound they could hear was the beating of their own hearts pounding in their ears. The only thought that passed through both of their minds.. so beautiful. As another customer cleared their throat and politely asked to be let out of the cafe.. as they had been blocking the entrance.. the two women were pulled out of their thoughts and shyly smiled at one another.

Tina was the first to break the silence as she felt she at least owed the beautiful woman, whom she now knew as Bette, some sort of explanation as to why she had run into her. “I’m sorry.. I just forgot my cell. I didn’t see you.” she softly said.

Bette smiled back and replied, “It’s ok, really.” Extending her hand she offered her introduction as she still didn’t know this gorgeous blonde’s name. “I’m Bette Porter.”

Tina smiled and took Bette’s hand in hers. Both women gasped as they felt what could only be described as a surge of electricty run through them as their hands touched. With all the composure she could muster, Tina responded to Bette. “Tina Kennard. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Bette Porter.”

Bette, having slowly regained her composure and confidence replied, “The pleasure is all mine, Tina Kennard.” God how she loved saying that name.

Tina smiled once again, but it quickly faded as she realized she really did need to get to work, no matter how much she didn’t want to.

“I’m sorry again for running into you. I really should grab my cell and go before I’m late.” she said.

“Of course. I’m running late myself. I hope we meet again soon, Tina Kennard.” Bette gave her famous breath-taking smile. Yes, the Porter charm was now in full swing.

Tina felt her heart flutter at Bette’s beautiful smile. At a loss for words she simply walked back into The Planet and grabbed her cell phone. As she turned around, she caught her last glimpse of Bette Porter as she walked out the door. Shaking her head, Tina once again made her way to her car.

Unbeknown to Bette and Tina, Alice had been watching the entire scene unfold. She had a mischevious grin on her face as she thought to herself, Oh, this is gonna be interesting.
