CHAPTER 3
Bette Porter hit the snooze button to silence the alarm. Her day had officially started. Over the last few months, she had become a creature of habit. Her life dictated that she’d be organised and methodical. For her sanity and to forget her troubles she needed a regimented routine.
She made her way to the bathroom and opened the door of the shower. A spacious cubicle surrounded by glass and level with the ground. She liked the ease of access it provided. She reached in, found the taps and turned them on to allow the water to warm up.
She made sure the towels were where they were supposed to be. Nothing worse than forgetting to have towels nearby when you get out of the shower, she thought to herself.
She entered the cubicle and stepped under the warm flow of the shower. This would surely finish waking her up! The water trickled the length of her body warming her skin and awakening every muscles. Bette was a beautiful woman, tall, slender and years of a dedicated work out routine had resulted in shaping a splendid toned figure.
Her soft facial features were every so often brought to life by a dazzling smile, which uncovered a set of sparkling white teeth. she had few reasons to smile these days though. Her chocolate brown eyes were bordered by long dark eyelashes. Her hair was thick, soft and full of unruly curls.
She reached for the shower gel, popped the lid open and poured a generous amount of the cool liquid into the palm of her hand. She lathered up slowly massaging the foam onto her skin, each movement bringing her a feeling of freshness and rejuvenation. She washed and rinsed her hair, turned the taps off and exited the shower.
Clad only in a towel she went to stand in front of her closet, pondering what to wear. Work today would only require to dress casual.
Her closet was a testament to tidiness and organisation. She liked it that way, it made it simple and easy. Garments were set out according to type and colour and each item had a dedicated place. She took out a well worn pair of jeans. You could easily tell they had been by the feel of them, softer and more flexible. She chose a tight fitted t-shirt and grabbed the distressed-look leather boots to compliment the outfit.
In her apartment on the other side of town Tina Kennard had also, at this stage of the morning, finished with her morning routine and found herself preparing her breakfast in the kitchen. Coffee was brewing and she was busy spreading cream cheese on her bagel. She was looking forward to her day at work. Who knew she would have been such an inspiring teacher and was making real progress with all the kids at the centre. She finished up in the kitchen, grabbed her purse, mobile phone and headed for the door. She had heard the car pulling up in front of her building. Always on time, her lift had arrived.
Bette finished her morning coffee, she didn’t eat. She picked up her bag, checked its content and headed for the door.
Tina stepped out and pulled the front door behind her checking that it had locked properly.
Bette secured her own door and reached in her bag to retrieve her car keys.
As Tina moved down her front steps she unfolded her white stick.

Really enjoying this story so far. Had me guessing who was blind
This story is simply awesome. I love your writing style and the way you interwined this chapter picking up where the other left off. Even though I thought it was Tina after the last chapter you had me believing Bette was the blind one until the reveal. Excellent. Please keep it going.
Being a Laurel fan, Tina was my favorite L word character. Your story is wonderfully written and is a few favorite of mine. I am so glad you’ve chosen to update every day. Because this story just keeps getting better and better. PPS.
Keep it going!
Wow you’re a good writer indeed. you’vekeep us guessing and guessing, until your last line. ..But i wonder when did their path will cross?..Uhmm? I hate to jump to your story and messing things up?..But?…Is Bette one of the Doc who’s in Tina’s operating room?..The calm and tender voice?
