    Chapter Ten

     

                    Bette raked her fingers through her Farrah Fawcett hair do as the door rang. She walked towards the door and opened it. She smiled softly when she saw Tina standing in the doorway wearing bell bottoms and halter top with her hair in curls.

    “Well hello—,” Tina leaned against the doorway staring at Bette wearing a white, shiny strapless jumpsuit and her platform shoes. “Did you have that lying around somewhere in your closet?”

    Bette laughed. “I actually did. You look great too.” She moved out of the doorway, and Tina walked in.  Bette closed the door. “So what did you want to talk about?” Tina sighed and turned around.

    “I just wanted to tell you that I’m really happy that we’re working on getting back together. I never thought that you would give me another chance. I just felt that we would never be together again.” Bette walked over to Tina and grabbed her hand.

    “We had our problems, but we’re going to work this all out. We’re going to be together again. You are the only woman that I will ever love and will always love. You’re the only woman for me.” Tina smiled softly. “I love you.”

    “I love you.” Bette leaned forward and pecked Tina on the lips. Tina grabbed Bette by her waist and kissed her back. Bette pulled away and sighed.

    “We better stop before we don’t make it to the Planet.”

    “It doesn’t sound like a bad idea.” Tina smiled as she held Bette close to her.

    “But we did say that we would go.” Bette smiled, and Tina sighed.

    “All right—I guess we can make an appearance.”

                    The sounds of Hollywood Swingin’ were going through the speakers. Bette and Tina walked into the Planet and walked through the crowd. Alice was dancing to the music in her high knee white socks with her short shorts and her stripe shirt tucked in.  Shane stood next to her in her flowered button shirt and her blue bell bottoms and wearing Kit’s apple hat.

    “I feel so out of style.” Shane took a drink of her beer.

    “That’s the whole point, this is the seventies, sort of.” Alice continued to dance.
