    Angelica & The Artist – Chapter 34

Angelica sat quietly and listened to Lyndsay’s oldest friend as she continued.

“As you now know, I have known Lynds for a very long time. She is like a sister to me and I don’t want to see her get hurt.”

Angelica said nothing, she just sat and listened. Not sure why Angie was not responding in any way Carolyn continued to say her piece.

“The thing is, I have never seen Lynds as happy as she appears to be with you. I don’t want to give you the impression that I do not approve of your relationship, because in all honesty, that could not be further from the truth.”

Angelica responded “Thank you for saying that. I know your opinion means a lot to Lyndsay.”

“Angie, it’s not my opinion that matters here. Lyndsay is a big girl, and she can be very strong minded. When she sees something that she wants, she generally goes after it……sometimes without thinking through all of the consequences.”

“And you think that is what she is doing with me? You feel she hasn’t thought through all of the ramifications of dating a woman?”

“Yes, something like that. It will be a shock to some people when they find out about the two of you.”

Angelica wanted to ensure she responded in just the right way, as this was a very important person in Lyndsay’s life and she didn’t want to make any waves.

“Carolyn, I know you care about her, and yes, we both know that this isn’t what many expected for her. Believe me I realize that. When I first met her in Rome I didn’t expect this to happen between us…..but it has, and I have to tell you in all honesty that I have never felt like this about anyone in my life. She is a very special woman, and I promise you I am not out to hurt her.”

Carolyn could hear the sincerity in Angie’s voice as she spoke of Lyndsay. It was very apparent that they had something special, as was evident in the way they had communicated, sometimes without saying a word to each other throughout dinner. Carolyn herself was quite perceptive and she could see the little looks and the playfulness between the two women. They were comfortable in each other’s company, that was plain to see to anyone in the near vicinity.

“Angie, please do not get the impression that I am against this relationship. I just want Lyndsay to be happy.”

“Well then we both apparently want the same thing.”

Silence hung in the air once again between the two women. As she was making her way back to the table, Lyndsay had noticed the serious look on both Carolyn and Angie’s faces as they talked. She had lingered away from the table a little longer than necessary allowing them to finish their conversation. When it appeared that they were at a standstill she made her way back over.

Trying to ease the tension she felt when she returned to the table she stated “Well, don’t you two look like you would rather be any place other than right here, right now. Would either of you like to tell me what is going on?”

    1. Looks as though the dinner meeting with Carolyn was a success and everyone wants the same thing, happiness for Lyndsay and Angie. Angie was very wise in getting that out in the open with Carolyn. And she should not have any problems with Lyndsay’s parents either, even though “she is as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs,” everything will go fine with the parents. Great chapter. PPS

    2. Good job Taz, now for the parents, ya the dreaded parents meeting. I am sure Angie will do great. Hey dose this Angie cook? Can she help with the dinner? Thank you, Md

    3. Honestly, If I was Carolyn and had been friends with Lyndsay that long I would have asked the same things, even if Angie had been a man. Anyway, I think they like each other and now Angie has had a dry run before Lyndsays parents. Great update Taz and wonderfully written.

    4. Well look at who surprised me tonight! I loved it Tazzie. That conversation was one that I could certainly see happening in someone like Carolyn’s position. Her best friend is embarking on not just a relationship which she has fallen completely in love with the person, BUT…that “person” is a female, and a sexual presence that is unfamiliar grounds to Lyndsay. I would likely have one of those hard decisions in behalf of a good friend myself. VERY believable. You did a fabulous job blending the feelings of each person in this chapter. Let’s just see where this one goes now eh? :-)))) Thanks for posting hun. xo

    5. Hey Tazzie, what a pleasant surprise you gave us. We didn’t expect this post. As for the story, Angie showing her vulnerable side to Lynds, required a lot of effort. But it was the best thing to do, in order to avoid any future misunderstanding. Carolyn’s concern for her best friend’s happiness is very sweet. This reunion was a nice prelude to meeting Lynds parents as the girlfriend. We agree with Lynds. Angie should be her own self. Can’t wait for Thanksgiving dinner. Thanks, Tazzie for such a lovely update. Hugs & kisses on both your cheeks. Lucero & Marsha (JC’s Salsa Aunties)

    6. Hey, if I was Carolyn I would have asked the same questions. I’m sure Lynsday’s thought this through, we already know she took her time before contacting Angie again. It will go fine with the folks, relax Ang.
