I am trying to figure out how this exactly happened. I guess it started when she decided to join me on my runs up to Heaven. Heaven is a mountain on the other side of the cliffs surrounding her home. My home. Our home really. It didn’t start out that way of course. It started with me and another woman. It started a while back. All of that though…its history. What I am all about is now. The wonderful feeling of now.

Right now we are sweaty and out of breath. The sun is glaring in our eyes and even though it’s chilly (always chilly) we are hot and bothered.

She looks into my eyes and I see her total love and devotion for me. It’s great to know that she cares. It makes me feel a little more alive. The problem is that I don’t love her. I can’t. I love another. Someone I will never see again. Somewhere in her I know she knows that. She doesn’t really try to make me feel otherwise. And that’s a good thing. It’s why I like her so much. And I do like her a lot. She is different. Older yes, dark hair yes, but that is where the differences stop.

    Differences.

Everything under the surface of who we really are. I don’t know. My mind wanders. I shouldn’t internally compare them. Other than the above mentioned they really don’t have much in common. Well except for me and their history. And I know what you are thinking. Who the hell am I talking about? Who the hell am I? I guess introductions are in order. It’s the proper thing to do isn’t it?

“Shane darling I can’t possibly keep up with you. Now you go on ahead and I’ll make my way down and meet you back home…with dinner….and maybe more…”

She winks at me. It’s always strange when she does. For that one brief moment that beautiful blue eye of hers makes her blind to me.

    1. Wooo! I nearly fell off my chair when I saw your name on a new post. I was hoping that you would be back to finish this one. The selfish part of me hopes that this story has many parts…I believe “The Line Begins to Blur” had 8…but no matter how long it lasts, I’m looking forward to reading it! Helena with an eye patch…outstanding!!
