    All I Need (Chapter 9)

Alice stared at the key dangling form her hand. She placed the metal object in her palm and closed her fingers around its jagged edges. Tightening her grip, she felt the key pushing into her skin. Hoping the pain would distract her from her thoughts, Alice looked up at the door in front of her and let out a tiny sigh before unclenching her fist and placing the key into the lock. Pushing the door open, she saw Kerry sitting on the couch in front of the TV.

Kerry turned her head and met Alice’s gaze. A tiny smile crossed the doctor’s lips. “I’ve been worried about you,” Kerry gestured for Alice to join her on the sofa. “I’ve called you an absurd amount of times in the last two days. I’m sure you have a good reason for turning into a recluse, but next time could you maybe leave me a note or some tiny clue that your still living.”

Alice made her way to the couch and took a seat next to Kerry. She tried to laugh at the doctor’s comment, but the sound that escaped her throat was flat. “I should’ve called, but truthfully hearing your voice would have confused me even more.”

Kerry turned her body so she was facing Alice. Reaching up, the doctor softly brushed Alice’s cheek with her hand. Gaining eye contact from the blonde, Kerry gave her a questioning look.

Alice cleared her throat and looked down at Kerry’s hands resting in her lap, “I didn’t tell you this when we had dinner the other night, because I was still shell shocked, but something happened between Dana and me.” Alice watched as Kerry took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She could see the doctor was trying to ready herself for what ever pain Alice was about to inflict. “We got into a fight about me not giving her another chance, and it ended with me kissing her.”

Kerry opened her eyes and quickly stood up, “So, what exactly are you trying to tell me, Alice, because if you’re trying to let me down gently, don’t. The faster you rip the band-aid off the quicker I can replace it.”

    1. Well, it’s nice to see that you’re back, even if it’s just temporary because this chap more than made up for the long wait:) So emotional yet so well written. Can’t think of anything better! Hope that your work hours get re-adjusted and post more when you can!

    2. Great update. I really enjoyed reading it. You had me on the edge of my seat there a few times. I was yelling at Dana to go after Alice, and then I was yelling at Alice to stop Dana from leaving. I was glad that Alice at least called her though, so Dana wasn’t left thinking that she didn’t have a shot. I can’t wait for more.

    3. i usually dont comment here! silent lurker – yup thats me. BUT!!! Theres a big BUT. i just want to tell u that u are mean. u write stuff like that and then u disappear for months… Please prove me wrong :$ that was brilliant! i need my danish!

    4. I just love this story and I really have missed it. I can understand that Alice has to has some thinking to do….but maybe she can just do it by driving around for a couple of hours and then somehow ending up at Dana’s house. ;)
