    She drops on one knee next to the bed.

    Bette – Will you be my life partner, Tina Kennard?

    The blonde smiles broadly. She drops to her knees in front of her girlfriend.

    Tina – I will!

    Bette grins.

    Tina – Will you be my life partner, Bette Porter?

    The brunette’s eyes well up with tears.

    Bette – I want nothing else!

    They fall into each other’s arms and hug tightly. 

    Tina – I’m so in love with you!

    Bette – I love you too, Tee!

    The blonde pulls away and smiles teasingly.

    Tina – Is this when we kiss the bride?

    Bette chuckles.

    Bette – Definitely!

    They exchange a passionate kiss, their arms in a tight embrace, their hearts beating as one.

    Bette’s bedroom, morning: Tina is sitting in bed stroking Bette’s hair, while the brunette’s head is resting on her lap.

    Bette – Mmmm …

    She closes her eyes.

    Bette – Would you like a ceremony?

    Tina – You mean … like a wedding ceremony?

    Bette – Yes.

    Tina – I don’t think we need to conform to heterosexual practices of marriage. We have the freedom to create our own thing.

    Bette looks up at her.

    Bette – What would you like?

    Tina – Just the two of us together … or maybe a housewarming party with our friends after we move in together.

    Bette – OK. What about your family?

    Tina – I’ll tell them that we are moving in together. Grandma will love it! I am consolidating her wild legacy!

    She smiles.

    Tina – What about yours?

    Bette – I’ll tell them. Kit will be excited!

    Tina – And your father will change the subject.

    Bette – Yeah … But I think we should still make it legal in some form. I want you to have all the rights if anything ever happens to me.

    The blonde nods with a smile.

    Tina – OK, we can talk to an attorney …

    She kisses her lightly.

    Tina – … if you’re planning on leaving me all your art when you die …

    Bette – Who says I’ll die first?

    Tina – You robbed the cradle, babe!

    She chuckles.  

    Tina – And I promise to leave you my college student loan.

    She kisses her girlfriend again.

    Bette – Mmm … I’ll die a happy woman!
