Chapter 7 

At The Planet

Shane and Alice are standing at the bar watching the girls on the dance floor. “Shane?” Alice starts in a zoned tone.

Shane’s only response is, “Hmm?” her eyes never leaving the dance floor.

“Remind me to find whoever made clothes that small and thank them…”

“Oh my god, have you seen all the hot women in here tonight?!” Dana yells joining Shane and Alice.

“Yeah,” Alice nods. “Only when I open my eyes though.”

Dana and Alice continue on with their conversation about low tops and short skirts but Shane tunes them out; all she can focus on is Carmen who just danced her way into sight. Her black short shorts left little to the imagination and her small top showed her perfectly toned stomach; sweat glistened her body making it impossible for Shane to look away. She chugged down the rest of her beer to cool herself off, then ordered a shot; if she was going to play the friendship game, she was going to need some sort of advantage and at the time alcohol seemed to be the best defense. Shane took the shot and picked up her next beer, chasing the shot. She looks back to the dance floor to see Carmen glance over her shoulder and seductively smile at her. The air caught in Shane’s throat and all she could do was manage a goofy smile. Carmen started a smoother rhythm, concentrating on the motion of her hips that were transfixing Shane into a zoned state. She slowly lifted her hair, exposing the rest of her back.

Shane turns around and downs the rest of her beer and signals for another shot. “Woah, Shane. Semi it down a notch, will ya?” Alice says, noticing her alcohol binge.

“Here,” she places a shot in front of Alice and gets another for herself. “Join me.” They take it quick.

“That’s her last one for a bit,” Alice tells the bartender.

“Ok fine,” Shane agrees. “Just get me something good to sip on.”

Mandy hands her a cooler and smiles. Shane nods as a thank you and is dragged by Alice to their table of friends. “Why is it that Carmen is the only one of us out there dancing?” Dana asks looking around the table. Everyone just shrugs. “Look at her!” They all watch Carmen dancing on the floor. “I mean if she isn’t DJ-ing she’s dancing.”
