A Single Mom Meets Someone New Ch 99

“Well there’s the obvious ones that every one knows.” Grace started naming out the names of bones kissing each one as she went. She started at Gillian’s feet which were still draped across her lap. Then moved to her hands and arms.

“That tickles.” Gillian laughed when Grace rubbed her fingers over the inside of her arm.

“So not only am I studying for a quiz but I’m learning where your ticklish.” Grace said.

“Oh yeah.” Gillian reached up and started tickling Grace who jumped back.

“Not fair.” Grace said trying to get away from Gillian.

    ********

Bette paced in front of the class talking. Grace and Gillian sat randomly in the middle. Grace was listening intently. Gillian on the other hand was doing her chemistry homework.

“Gillian, what do you think?” Bette asked. Grace nudged Gillian.

“What?” Gillian whispered. Grace pointed to Bette was getting madder by the second.

“See me after class.” Bette said.

“Shit. I’m in trouble again.” Gillian said.

“I told you to pay attention.” Grace said.

“I know. I can’t believe she’s always calling me out.” Gillian said.

“She’s only doing it because you never pay attention.” Grace said.

“That’s it for today. See you all on Thursday.” Bette said.

“You want me to wait?” Grace asked.

“No. I might be awhile.” Gillian said.

“Okay, do I get to see you later?” Grace asked.

“I’ve got practice till 8:30 or so.” Gillian said.

“Is that a yes or no?” Grace asked.

“Then I’ve got something with Helena.” Gillian said. The auditorium was almost empty.

“Okay.” Grace said and followed the last student out. Bette walked down the isle and sat next to Gillian who was packing up her stuff.

“What’s going on Gil?” She asked.

    “Nothing.” Gillian responded.

“Since when do you prefer chemistry over art theory?” Bette asked.

“I’m sorry, I’ve just got a full night and I needed to get this done. Let’s face it I could pass this class without even showing up. I did spend a lot of time with you at your gallery before I moved.” Gillian said.

“Regardless I would appreciate if you at least pretended to pay attention.” Bette said.

“You’re right I’m sorry. I’ll do better.” Gillian said.

“Maybe you should cut back on something?” Bette got to the real issue.

“Like what? If I stop doing my royal duties then I disappoint my father, I quit Softball I’m not doing something I love, If I slack off at school I disappoint everyone. I’m doing the best I can.” Gillian stood.

    “Okay.” Bette said.

“Can I go? I’m going to be late for Calculus.” Gillian said.

“Yeah go ahead.” Bette could tell Gillian was about to burn out and if that was to happen it wouldn’t be pretty for anybody.
