A Single Mom Meets Someone New Ch 93
Tina led Gillian up stairs. Gillian had never been upstairs.
“I don’t think I’ve been up here.” Gillian said. Tina reached the top of the stairs She opened the only door. Tina walked in and Gillian followed.
“Bette and I had the attic converted into a room for you just after we moved in.” Tina flipped the light on. Gillian looked around the fairly large room. The rafters on the ceiling were exposed and all stained.
“Bette picked out everything. She said it had to be perfect for you when you came home to us.” Tina walked around the room. Gillian walked up to the shelves and pulled down a picture of herself Bette and Tina at the beach.
“That was a perfect day.” Tina said. Gillian nodded in agreement and put the picture back in its place.
“You guys didn’t have to do this.” Gillian said.
“No we didn’t, but you are a part of this family and we wanted you to have a room in our home.” Tina said.
Gillian looked around the room.
“Thank you.” She said.
“I probably know what you’re answer is going to be but Bette and I both would really like it if you spend sometime here with us. With your family.” Tina said.
“I’d like to spend more time with you guys, but I don’t want anyone to have any false hopes that I’m going to move in here.” Gillian said.
“I don’t expect you to do that even though nothing would make me happier than to have all my children sleeping under the same roof.” Tina moved towards Gillian.
“I’ve been on my own for a long time. It’s hard for me to imagine living with rules and curfews and all that would come with living here.” Gillian said. Tina started to cry. “See this is exactly what I didn’t want to happen. I didn’t want to upset you. I’m trying to be honest.”
“I know.” Tina said.
“Do you really?” Gillian asked.
“I do. I saw you for the first time today. I really saw you. I know you’ve changed and grown. I see that you have grown into the woman I always hoped you’d be.” Tina said. Gillian smiled and hugged her mom.

Good to see you writing again. Glad Bette didn’t go ballistic on Tina.
I’ve been silently following your story and I have to leave a comment. I think Gillian is self centered. She sold tina a guilt round trip ticket, and Tina got on. I don’t think what Tina did to her was that bad, in fact the experience made her a strong woman, then she should be wiser for it and not the not bitter teen that we are seeing. Just wanting to add my 2 cents and say thank you for updating when you can. You’re doing a great job with this and raising your baby.
Glad you are back, missed your story.
