Chapter 5

Tina awoke at 6 in the morning to a ringing phone. She rolled over and pushed her head under a pillow and tried to squash out the sound. She lay there hoping the ringing would go away. Finally the ringing stopped and just as she was thanking God for mercy the ringing started again. Tina finally gave up and reached for the phone.

Tina: Hello Tina said with a gruff voice.

Voice: Hey what are you doing? said the excited voice.

Tina easily recognized the voice. The excitement in was too familiar.

Tina: Sleeping. Like the rest of the world. Said Tina as she pulled her head out from under the pillow.

Kristen: Well wake your ***** up, youre coming with me.

Tina: What are you talking about? Its six in the morning Kristen.

Kristen: Im taking the kids to San Diego this weekend and I need someone to keep me sane. So you are coming with me.

Tina: Isnt that what you have a husband for? asked Tina as she sat up in bed.

Kristen: No that would only serve to pushing me further into oncoming insanity. Come on, we have done anything in the past couple of weeks and I feel you need to get out. Besides you are too pale, you need some sun.

Tina: Oh, thanks. So what is the reason behind this spontaneous trip?

Kristen: A miracle. The boys got good report cards the quarter. Said Kristen referring to her two boys. 8-year-old Jason and 6-year-old Jamie. Besides, its a reason to get you out of the house and going somewhere. Laughed Kristen.

Tina: I dont know, I had a late night, and work was crazy this week.

Kristen: And work is over. Besides, its not like you were actually doing anything this weekend. Wait! Kristen exclaimed, Why did you have a late night?

Tina thought for a second and debated about talking of her date. Finally she figured that having a female perspective could only help her.

Tina: I had a date last night.

Kristen: With that guy in your accounting department?

Tina smiled into her phone, as she laughed at the thought of anyone calling Bette a guy.
