    Is this the next level?

    Chapter 14

     

    At around two-thirty the party finally started to wind down. There were a few stragglers that continued to dance and talk amongst each other. Bette and Tina began to clean up around the apartment while the birthday girl continued her tipsy conversation with Alice.

    Kristen: “so you’re into girls huh? I thought about doing that in college, but never had the balls.”

    Alice: “No, I’m bi-sexual, much to my friends dismay.” Alice laughed.

    Kristen: “I don’t see why that’s a bad thing. I think its kind of cool.”

    Alice: “Well at least someone does.”

     

    Tina and Bette watched the interaction. A confused Bette wondered: “Is Kristen flirting with Alice?”

    Tina: “YeahI think so. When Kristen’s had a little booze, anything with legs is fair game. Not to say that Alice isn’t worth flirting with, she’s very pretty.”

    Bette: “Are you looking at my friend in a non-neutral manner?”

    Tina: “No! I just didn’t want to offend you.”

    Bette: “Sure”

    Tina: “Don’t worry, I only have eyes for you babe. What time is it? I should be getting her home. Hey Party Girl, are you ready? I’ve got to get you home, so I can make my apartment liveable again!”

    Kristen: “That’s no fun!” she yelled

    Bette: “No, Tina you stay here. I’ll take her home.”

    Alice: “No, you two stay here. I’ll take her home. Where do you live anyway? That’s right by my place, so come on.” Alice began to gather all of Kristen’s presents and belongings. By the time they settled into her car all of the people had left Tina’s apartment.

    Bette: “Are you sure you know where you’re taking her?” Bette asked as she and Tina stood by the car.

    Alice: “Yeah, come one Bette, who knows the city better than I do?”

    Bette: “Yeah, I guess your hooker days have finally paid off.”

    Alice: “Yeah, I can’t remember why I gave that up. Anyways *****, are you two gonna meet up for coffee tomorrow morning?”

    Tina: “You mean this morning?”

    Alice: “Whatever, be there. Are you ready hot stuff?” Alice asked her passenger. Kristen had been happily dancing to the techno music in Alice’s car.

    Kristen: “I’m ready to go wherever you want to take me.”

    4. Welcome back, while most are thinking about the inpending seduction I am worried about Krestin at the hands of Alice. I hope that she actually makes it home rather than ending up at Alice’s.

    10. Tina: “Come on, Carrie was not that bad.”

      Bette: “Tina she had buck teeth. That is bad.”

      Tina: “Yeah, but she’s nice.”

      Bette: “Her only redeeming quality. She’s probably like one of those people that has to be nice to people. Otherwise they wouldn’t know anyone.” Bette said sarcastically. Tina laughed as she swept the confetti from her hardwood floors.

      I can’t figure out if those of us who aren’t lucky enough to look like Bette and Tina, should be insulted by this exchange. So, just because we are not beautiful, we HAVE to be nice to people, otherwise we wouldn’t have any friends? Ouch.
