“Bette Porter?”

Bette turned toward the voice and looked directly into the eyes of her new friend, Cindy.

Bette: Wow, hey Cindy how are you?

Cynthia: Girl we are just getting back from Las Vegas. Bette I’d like you to meet my husband, Gerald Hopkins.

Bette: Oh congratulations, that’s just awesome. Gerald it is nice to meet you. You’ve done very well for yourself man.

Gerald: Thank you, it is so nice to finally meet you both Cindy and Sam rave about you and your daughter. Hey are you heading back to Manhattan? We can share a taxi.

Bette: I don’t want to be the third wheel on your honeymoon.

Gerald: I surprised her with the proposal and wedding. She’s made me promise her a fully disclosed honeymoon trip. I hear you’re going through the second parent adoption with Angelica, maybe we can talk about that on the way. I am excited to do that with Sammy. We’ll drop you off first.

They catch a taxi and chat about the adoption process and the upcoming visit on Thursday. They agree to move the play date to their neighborhood playground if Angelica is up for the company. Bette offers congratulations once again and they wish her luck for Thursday. Once home Bette showered, changed and ate breakfast then headed into the museum to start her day just after 9am. She had their financial documents couriered over to the financial advisors and checked in with Peggy to confirm she’d start the process. Peggy of course wanted to know Tina and Angelica’s flight information. Bette chuckled and pass on the information. Bette put in a full day and is happy to come home to a freshly cleaned place. Wednesday was a return to her routine: Yoga class before work. Gerarado was waiting for Bette outside the museum promptly at 1:30 and they headed to JFK.

Bette: This is getting to be quite the habit for us.

Gerardo: From what I see and hear this is just another part of my job. Welcome to the family. Peggy really adores you all.

Bette: The feeling is mutual. She gave me a very eloquent talking to a few weeks back and finally I get it. We’ve been blessed and I’m not going to fight it anymore.
