You Only Live Once – Why Not Enjoy It – (Chapter: 13 – Tragedy Strikes)
“Kasey, move it! Game time’s in ten!” Aiden entered the girls’ locker room without hesitation. He snorted and paused, taking in the humorous sight before him.
“Alright, shit! Are you losers done gawking?” Kasey huffed slipping on the large foam head over hers.
The Trojan’s face was massive and well detailed. He bore a frightening grin which was accented by large bushy eyebrows. His dark brown eyes were thickly circled in black, a look that helped highlight his demented features. He also wore a silver helmet which held blue bristles forming a makeshift Mohawk.
The soles of her large foam sandals were made of a hard rubber that gripped securely to the floor as she walked toward the gym. Kasey was quietly followed by Ashley as Aiden rejoined his team mates. She gulped nervously as the crowd cheered. Thanks to the white meshing used for his teeth, she could see the assembly roaring in enthusiasm.
“Well, have fun out there!” Ashley patted her on the back then gave the brunette a playful swat on the derriere for good luck as she ran to Spencer on the bleachers.
‘I am so dead.’ Kasey thought to herself. She wasn’t afraid very often and she was rarely nervously about facing large crowds. But something about this ridiculous outfit and the fact that a beautiful girl was sitting out in those stands waiting for her debut rendered the brunette fearful. ‘What if I make an ass outta myself? What if I fall flat on my face just running out onto the court? What if-‘ Before she could finish her thought she was shoved out in the front of the basketball team facing their captain.
“You can do this Kasey! If you feel nervous just look up at the bleachers and remember why you’re doing this.” Glen encouraged her, he could sense her fear. Kasey simply gave him a thumbs up and turned to face the gym.
“Put your hands together for the King High Trojans!” An announcer belted into the microphone, the sound echoed through the room as the crowd stood and clapped awaiting the entrance of their team.
Kasey ran into the gym toward the crowd, her arms were strewn out before her. She encouraged the entire crowd to stand and yell for their team never saying a word of her own. The cheerleaders closely followed, yelling and dancing to music that echoed throughout the room. All eyes then turned to Glen and the team who hopped out onto the gym floor.

I thought I’d stop by and start by saying thank you. Not only for your kind words in essence to this chapter but to the entire story. Your comments throughout the entire account have been more than cherished.I’d also like to thank you for your heartfelt sympathies with regards to Annie. Unnecessary but utterly appreciated. Her passing isn’t so much a sad event anymore. She never would have wanted her friends and family to think about how or why she passed but instead of how she lived. I think that Kasey portrays her very well and I hope that I continue to do her justice in the next chapter…Enough of the mush and on to the next piece. =P
