I let go of her hand as I answer instinctively, “Wow…I’m flattered but I really like someone else, and I don’t think I can get over that.” I say referring to Ashley…okay so I guess that answers all my questions about my true feelings, like I ever didn’t actually know I was obsessed with Ashley…but hey, I finally told someone out loud about it.

Adrienne doesn’t look upset or anything…actually the opposite….she’s smiling and fighting off her laughter.  “No..” She shakes her head for emphasis…okay… I wouldn’t be the worst pick for a girlfriend, at least that’s what I think, and she just complimented the hell out of me…but she continues as I just raise my eyebrow questioning her. “I mean, Spencer…you’re an amazingly hot and funny girl, but I really just like you as a friend.  Prom was great and all, but did you really think there is anything between us?? Ha, I was asking you because I just didn’t know how to ask out Rachael.” 

Then realization hit…. I did only like Adrienne as a good friend… I always helped her with her ‘friend’ Rachael, and she always talked about my ‘friend’ problems with Ashley.  We were each other’s support, and really good friends because of it.  Rachael and her would be perfect together….plus Adrienne’s almost as obsessed with her as I am about Ashley.  I can’t believe I didn’t think that she liked her…she always talked about her with this starry-eyed look… Awwww! I love new couples…they’re always so cute together!!!!

“So, I’m going to take that face as a ‘I’m really happy for you and I’m about to come up with an amazing plan’ because that’s really what I’m looking for here….” Adrienne continued because I must have spaced off while thinking about her and Rachael.

“Yeah!  Sorry, I just couldn’t believe I missed that you liked her….I mean, you’re always talking about her.  But that’s beside the point, of course I will help you girl!!”  I say getting up and giving her a hug because Chelsea should be back any time now.

On our way up back to her mom’s room I came up with a pretty great plan for her and Rachael….we’re calling the whole thing “Operation Startrek” …It was more of an inside joke from our Psych class, our teacher was reallllly weird.  Anyways, she also said she knew I liked Ash, which I can’t believe so many people realized my crush on her…I guess I wasn’t good at hiding it from people, besides Ashley herself because she would never think to look at me!! L
