You and Me – (Chapter: I love you, I hate her, and what the hell is she doing here?)

Tucking the stray locks behind her ear, she walked over towards the brown eyed girl and discreetly brushed her hand against the tanned arm, “Well it was very clever and thank you for defending my and my family’s honor.” she said as she gave a chaste kiss on Ashley’s cheek.

Both girls giggled and started off towards their lockers. Spencer looked up to find Clay staring at her with his arms crossed and a knowing look on his face. The blond girl stopped in her tracks and stared at her brother, a wave of heart stopping fear swept through her. Every horrible and disastrous scenario played through her mind frantically as she fought to maintain her composure.

Ashley stopped a few steps after she realized she was walking alone and looked back to see her girl standing still. Brown eyes followed to wear she was looking and soon saw Clay standing not a few feet away, just as still as his sister.

The moment was tense, it was terrifying but no one dared to move. Tho whole world seemed to stand still as the three teens had a stare down until Spencer gave the slightest shift of her eyebrows that said, ‘I don’t care whether or not you’re okay with this, I’m not making excuses for it.’

Clay stood still for a few moments, his best poker face on until a knowing smile creeped across his face. He shrugged at his sister and turned towards Ashley, giving her a wink before walking towards his locker.

It was the second time that day that Spencer had felt such relief come over her. She released the breath she didn’t know she was holding and laughed a bit.

“Is that what I think it was?” Ashley asked with an unsure tone and she walked up to the still giggling girl.

“If you think it was a sign of acceptance then I think you’d be right. Come on, we’re gonna be late for class.”

Giving her best dramatic eye-roll, the still edgy girl walked along with her girlfriend. “As if I could care about who killed who in whatever war that happened 500 years ago. Anything pre-rollingstones doesn’t count to me.”

It was finally the end of the day and students were almost (and in some cases actually were) running to their cars in order to make full use of the air-conditioners.

Ashley and Spencer were walking and talking about the pro’s and con’s of accepting trance music as an actual genre. The singer laughed at a witty retort the blond girl gave as searched through her backpack for her car keys. After finally finding them her eyes settled on a figure a few yards in front of her. She stopped dead in her tracks, dropping her bag and keys. “Holy shit.”
