They were both terrible liars. My theory had to be right. I gently squeezed Spencer’s thigh under the table and I stood up to go find us some more drinks. While all this talking was going on we finished our drinks in the game. On second thought, maybe I should get myself a drink and get Spencer one without alcohol. I know how she gets after one drink. It’s still as adorable as ever. I was on the other side of the room getting Spencer a soda when the other Ashley walked over to me.

Ashley: “I know what you are getting at. You know about Aiden. You know what I really helped him with. I’m not that much of a scatter brain. I do recognize you and Spencer.”

I was a little speechless. I stood there with my mouth slightly open.

Ashley: “Look, just give the guy a break. I’m sure he doesn’t know about you and Spencer either. It wouldn’t feel good if he was messing with you.”

She wasn’t being  mean. She was more along the lines of being sympathetic to Aiden. She really was a good person. She put a guilt trip on me, so I decided to leave Aiden alone. I wouldn’t want him doing this to Spencer. I don’t care about myself, but I will keep Spencer safe. I care about her way more than I could ever care for myself.

I sat back down at the table with our drinks and Spencer smiled at me.
Spencer: “So, what were you guys talking about?”

I felt her hand rest on my thigh under the table.

Ashley Davies: “Ashley was just helping me with the drinks”

I gave her an “I’ll tell you later” look and she slightly nodded and gave my thigh a reassuringly soft squeeze.

Spencer’s Pov

For some reason Ash seemed to drop the whole “prying for information” secret mission we were on. If we were dropping the subject of Aiden being gay then I should at least find out why Glen is acting so weird about him.

Spencer: “What is going on with you and my brother?”

He looked extremely uncomfortable.

Aiden: “uh… I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Spencer: “You guys haven’t been hanging out ever since I got home. He was acting really weird tonight when I told him I was coming here. He acted even weirder when I told him he should come.”
Aiden: “I don’t know. Maybe he is just having a bad day.”
Spencer: “What ever you say.”
