Within Temptation – (Chapter: 46: Sad Day)
Spencer: “My parents are getting a divorce. Dad didn’t want to tell me while I was gone. He didn’t want to ruin the trip. He waited until the second I got back to tell me and my brothers. “
Ashley: “I’m really sorry Spencer. Take it from a child of divorce. It isn’t that bad after a while.”
Spencer: “That’s real easy for you to say. You have never had parents who gave a shit. My family wouldn‘t be like this if I weren‘t gay.”
That was a low blow. Yeah it is true, but I don’t need Spencer throwing it in my face, because she grew up with a perfect family. Does she regret falling in love with me? She was obviously not in any mood to talk to me, so I got out of the bed and I slipped my shoes on. I grabbed my keys and headed for my door.
Spencer: “Wait.”
I heard her, but I kept going. I didn’t want her to see the tears that were falling from my eyes. What she said really hurt. I didn’t mean to, but I slammed my door.
Spencer’s Pov
I didn’t mean to snap at Ashley like that. I was hurt, but I didn’t mean to push her away. She was only trying to help. I have never hit her with a low blow like that before. I really hope she comes back soon. I do need her and I don’t need the extra stress of having her upset with me. It hurts bad enough to know my family is tearing apart. It is true that if I were straight everything would be ok with us, but I am not straight. I am gay. It’s not my fault and it is not my fault my mom can’t handle it. Wait… It is not me being gay that is tearing apart my family. It is my mom. If she wasn’t so ignorant and closed minded then our family would be ok. SHE is the one to blame. Not me. I can’t believe I thought it was my fault even for one second. I love Ashley and I wouldn’t give her up for anything in this world. I love her and that wont change no matter how difficult life is because of it. Love doesn’t tear apart a family. Lack of love is what does it. I wasn’t about to leave Ashley’s house. Not until she came home to talk to me. I wanted to fix this. I pulled out my cell phone to call her, but it started ringing on the dresser beside her bed. Great. I was just going to have to wait. I cried myself to sleep in the process of waiting for my girlfriend to get here.
